On Thursday, January 6th, 2022 at 1730 hours I was patrolling the area of Cassville Road near the intersection of Cross Street when I observed a dark in color Jeep Grand Cherokee without a license plate.

I initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle for failing to have a license plate by activating my emergency blue lights, and the vehicle pulled over in the St. Francis Church parking lot. Upon approaching the vehicle I made contact with the driver, later identified as Javier Murrieta. I explained the reason for the stop to Mr. Murrieta, and requested his drivers license.

Mr. Murrieta stated he did not have a license on his, so I asked him if he had a license to which he answered he was a sovereign citizen and did not need a license to drive. I advised him he did, and he refused to identify himself or provide a license. I asked Mr. Murrieta where he was detained in handcuffs to the rear which were checked for proper fit, and double locked.

It was explained to Mr. Murrieta that if he continued to refuse to identify himself or produce a license he would be arrested, and he stated he understood and continued to refuse. Mr. Murrieta was placed under arrest. An inventory of the vehicle was completed, and during the inventory I located a social security card bearing the name Javier Dawsom Murrieta.

Upon a GCIC check of Mr. Murrieta he returned to have a suspended drivers license, and be wanted by Cartersville Police Department for Probation Violation. Mr. Murrieta’s warrant was confirmed by Cartersville Dispatch. Mr. Murrieta’s vehicle was impounded by Wilson’s towing. Mr. Murrieta was placed in my marked issued patrol vehicle which was checked at the beginning of shift for contraband with none located, and transported to the Bartow County Jail where he was turned over to jail staff without further incident.

This incident was captured on my body worn camera, but my front facing in car dash camera was inoperable. Nothing further. Mr. Murrieta was served with a uniform misdemeanor citation form. Warrants have been secured for Mr. Murrieta for driving on suspended license, and misdemeanor obstruction.
