On Saturday, November 6th, 2021 at 1005 hours I observed a black Nissan Maxima fail to come to a complete cessation of movement at the stop sign at the intersection of Wofford Street and West Cherokee Avenue.

I initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle for the stop sign violation by activating my emergency blue lights. The vehicle turned on to Cherokee Avenue, and then on to School Street where the vehicle stopped. Upon approaching the vehicle I made contact with the driver, Samuel Boyd, and driver side rear seat passenger, Lisa Coleman. Upon a GCIC check of Mr. Boyd he returned to have a suspended drivers license, and was on felony probation. A criminal history and drivers history were ran for Mr. Boyd showing over four previous convictions of driving while license suspended or revoked.

Mr. Boyd and Ms. Coleman were asked to exit the vehicle where Mr. Boyd was placed under arrest in handcuffs to the rear which were checked for proper fit, and double locked. Ms. Coleman exited the vehicle with a black and white cloth backpack in hand to which she consented to a search of. Officer Bohannon #1111 conducted this search, and contained in the front right pocket of Ms. Coleman’s backpack was a piece of plastic wrapper with a small tied off piece of plastic containing a clear crystal like substance inside, suspected to be methamphetamine. A field test was conducted on the contents of the plastic, yielding a positive result for methamphetamine. Photos were taken and attached.

Ms. Coleman was placed under arrest in handcuffs to the rear which were checked for proper fit, and double locked. Mr. Boyd was placed in the rear of my marked issued patrol vehicle, which was checked for contraband at the beginning of shift with none found, and Ms. Coleman was placed in Officer Bohannon’s.

Both Mr. Boyd and Ms. Coleman were transported to the Bartow County Jail where they were turned over to jail staff without further incident. This incident was captured on my body worn camera, but my in car forward facing dash camera was inoperable. Warrants have been secured for Mr. Boyd for driving while license suspended or revoked, 4th or subsequent (Felony), and for Ms. Boyd for possession of methamphetamine. The approximate one gram of methamphetamine was submitted into evidence for further testing. Nothing further.
