On Thursday, January 6th, 2022 at 1553 hours I was dispatched to 1400 Joe Frank Harris Parkway (Grassdale Suites), apartment #[REDACTED] in reference to subjects trespassing.

Upon arrival I made contact with the occupant of the room, Lori Pittman on the bed surrounded by her purse and other property. I advised Ms. Pittman that the property manager had requested that she leave, and be trespassed from the property due to her being told previously to leave, refusing, and not having her own room.

Upon a GCIC check of Ms. Pittman she returned to be wanted for Failure to Appear X 4. These warrants were confirmed by Cartersville dispatch. I asked Ms. Pittman if there was anything illegal in the apartment, and she stated no. I asked specifically about her purse on the bed, and she stated no and that I may search it. While conducting my search of Mr. Pittman’s purse I located a leather sleeve, and as I pulled it out of the purse Ms. Pittman stated “oh that’s a set of scales that my friend gave me because she put my name on it, but there’s nothing on them.

I pulled the digital scale out of the leather sleeve, and opened it when I observed several pieces of a crystal substance on the scale suspected to be methamphetamine. I stated to Ms. Pittman that there was what I believed to be methamphetamine on the scale, and she stated “Yeah, but it’s not mine”. A field test of the substance was conducted yielding a positive result for methamphetamine. I asked Ms. Pittman if she would pass a urine drug screen to which she answered yes, and stated she would take one once we got to the jail.

Ms. Pittman was placed under arrest in handcuffs to the rear which were checked for proper fit, and double locked. Ms. Pittman was placed in the rear of my marked issued patrol vehicle which was checked at the beginning of shift for contraband with none found, and transported to the Bartow County Jail where she was turned over to jail staff without further incident. Once time came to execute the drug screen Ms. Pittman refused.

This incident was captured on my body worn camera. The digital scale was placed into evidence for further testing. A warrant has been secured for Ms. Pittman for possession of methamphetamine. Nothing further.
