On Monday, November 15, 2021, at approximately 1355 hours, I was patrolling the area of Main St and Joe Frank Harris Pkwy, when I observed a white Oldsmobile Intrigue driving East bound on Main St. The vehicle turned left under a red traffic light and proceeded north bound onto Joe Frank Harris Pkwy.

I initiated my emergency lights and conducted a traffic stop with the final stop being [50 BLOCK] N Morningside Drive (Ross parking lot). I met with the driver, Mr. Terry Whitehead, and advised him of why he was stopped. Mr. Whitehead stated he knew he proceeded under the red light and had mentioned that he was running late to a job interview.

I asked Mr. Whitehead for an ID to which he responded that he didn’t have any on his person. Mr. Whitehead then stated that he wished to be honest with me and proceeded to tell me that his license was suspended. I ran Mr. Whitehead’s name and date of birth through Bartow dispatch and they advised that Mr. Whitehead did have a suspended driver’s license and that he was also on probation.

Mr. Whitehead was then asked to step out of the vehicle. I proceeded to ask Mr. Whitehead if there was anything illegal in his vehicle and he responded no. I asked Mr. Whitehead for consent to search his person and his vehicle and he gave consent. A search of Mr .Whitehead’s person and Mr. Whitehead’s vehicle yielded no contraband. Mr. Whitehead was then placed under arrest, handcuffed behind the back, double locked, and checked for fit.

Mr. Whitehead was transported to the Bartow County Jail in patrol car [REDACTED], and released to their custody. My patrol car was searched before and after each transport, with no contraband located. A driver’s history was completed for Mr. Whitehead which did not show any other conviction for driving with a suspended license for the last five years.

Mr. Whitehead was not processed through the Cartersville Police Department due to him being on probation. Warrants were obtained on Mr. Whitehead for Driving while license suspended and failure to obey a traffic control device. This incident was recorded on my department issued BWC and in-car dash camera. Nothing Further.
