On Sunday August 6, 2023 at 2038 hours I, Deputy Irwin, was dispatched to [100 BLOCK] J Dr S in reference to a domestic dispute between husband and wife that just stated that the wife called it in.
Upon arrival, there was a female standing at the end of the driveway waiting on me. She began talking before I could even get out of the car so I just began taking notes. [VICTIM #1], stated that she was in bed asleep when her husband, Charles Gosha, came in snatched the covers back, grabbed her by the arms and slung her out of the bed. Charles then told her “Bit*h, you gonna get up outta here.”
[VICTIM #1] said he wants her to leave the house. I asked if he was drunk and she said all the time. I asked why he was upset and she said Charles thinks she has been messing around with other men. [VICTIM #1] said she tried to use her cellphone to call 911 but he snatched it out of her hand. She then tried to use the house phone in the bedroom but he then took that from her.
She went out to the living room to get that house phone. Charles followed her out there and also stopped her from using that house phone. They engaged in a verbal altercation and kept pushing her. She said her kids came out and she told them to call 911. [VICTIM #1] said she is done, fed up.
I asked how long this has been going on, she said they have been married for 19 years and it has been going on for that long. I asked if she has called us out before and she said he has only gone to jail for threatening her oldest son, she has never called for herself. I told her I wanted to look at her for injuries before speaking with Charles. She said her right side hurts from being yanked out of bed but that is about it. I went ahead and gave her a case number so that she could go inside while I spoke with Charles.
Charles was sitting outside while I spoke with [VICTIM #1] at the end of the driveway. When we walked up to the house [VICTIM #1] said she was going in. I told her that was fine and asked if she would turn an outside light on, she did. I asked Mr. Charles what was going on? Charles said [VICTIM #1] was gone all day and has only been home for about an hour and then started yelling at him while he was sitting down watching TV. She told him he needed to the leave the house but he said he did not have to go anywhere because he pays the house note and she got more upset. I told him ok and asked him to give me just a minute.
I went inside the house and called out for [VICTIM #1]. I asked her if I could speak with the boys. She called [REDACTED BY AGENCY] and [REDACTED BY AGENCY] out and said she was going to go in the bedroom, I told her she could stay if she wanted. I asked them if they could tell me what they witnessed. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] said he had a video.
The video did not show the altercation, but it had audio of the argument. [VICTIM #1] was out of breath asking for phone and said she was done. Charles was saying he was not going to fight. I asked who called 911 and [REDACTED BY AGENCY] said he did but his mom talked to them which you could also hear on the video. I asked if they could tell me what they witnessed. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] said he did not witness anything because he was in his room when [REDACTED BY AGENCY] came and got him.
[REDACTED BY AGENCY] said he came out when he heard they yelling. He ran into their bedroom and saw Charles standing over [VICTIM #1] who was on the floor. I asked where she was at on the floor and he said her side of the bed. I went and looked in the bedroom, nothing seemed out of place. I asked [REDACTED BY AGENCY] which side of the bed was hers and he said closest to the window. I thanked them for the information.
I went back out and asked Charles again what happened and he basically said the same thing that she demanded he leave the house. I asked him to stand up and placed him under arrest. I checked him for weapons and walked him to my car where he was able to call his mom while I transported him to the LEC. While on the phone with her, he initially denied anything but then told her they did have a verbal argument. He was charged with battery-FVA, interfering with a 911 call and child cruelty-3rd degree.
