On 8/4/23 at 1201 hours, I was dispatched to [100 BLOCK] Live Oak Lane in reference to a burglary in progress. When I arrived on scene, I made contact with Mrs. [VICTIM #1]. Mrs. [VICTIM #1] stated at 1200 hours on 8/4/23, she was sitting at her kitchen table working from home, when she noticed two males in her back yard. Mrs. [VICTIM #1] stated the males were wearing all black clothes and were wearing masks. Mrs. [VICTIM #1] stated she ran to her bedroom to get her firearm and call the police.

Mrs. [VICTIM #1] stated as she was in her bedroom, she heard the males trying to kick in her back door. Mrs. [VICTIM #1] stated she then heard her window shatter. Mrs. [VICTIM #1] stated the males had entered her residents without permission through the back window. Mrs. [VICTIM #1] stated the two males then left the residents when the house alarm started to go off. Mrs. [VICTIM #1] stated the males ran into the wood line.

Photo’s of the crime scene were obtained and uploaded to the report.

Mrs. [VICTIM #1] did have video footage of the incident. It should be known, the video footage shows the two males dressed in all black wearing and masks entering the residence through the back window while in possession of a firearm.

At this time, the scene was turned over to Detective Love.

After the suspects were located and detained, I took custody of Mr. Brandon Smith and placed in investigative detention. Mr. Smith was placed into handcuffs that were sized to fit and double locked behind his back. Mr. Brandon Smith was then placed into the transport compartment of my patrol vehicle, that was checked before and and after transport for contraband and none was found.

Mr. Smith was transported to the Garden City Police Department for questioning and turned over to Detective Love. After his interview, he was placed into Waiting Room #2 at 1520 hours, with visual checks within every 15 minutes. Mr. Smith was removed from Waiting Room #2 at 1642 hours for an arraignment and subsequent transport to the Chatham County Jail.

Both Mr. Brandon Smith and Reginald Smith were charged with the listed charges and transported to the Chatham County Detention Center for processing. They were arraigned prior to transport.
