In reference to CRN 230224085 I respectfully submit the following:
Friday, February 24, 2023 @ 1715 hours:
This officer responded to the area of Louisville Road and Stiles Avenue to assist Cpl. Neff on a traffic stop of a vehicle being driving by a wanted person. The driver of the vehicle was identified as Rico Greene.
Cpl Neff gave commands for Greene to exit the vehicle to which he complied. Greene was successfully taken into custody by Cpl. Neff. There was a strong odor of an alcohol beverage emitting from the passenger compartment of the vehicle.
A search of the vehicle revealed several alcohol containers and an red cup with an alcoholic beverage inside of it.
Cpl. Neff informed me that after spotting Greene’s vehicle, he observed him lean the driver’s seat all the way back.
I then looked into the back seat of the vehicle and observed that there was a way to access the trunk through the back seat. I then flipped down the center arm rest of the backseat and opened the door to have access to the trunk. I observed several items inside of the trunk to include what appeared to be a shaving kit bag. I then asked Greene was there any way to open the trunk to which he complied it was broken.
This appeared to be strange to me because there was a large quanity of items that were viewed inside of the trunk. I believed Greene to be deceiving with that statement and then checked the trunk of the vehicle through the access area from the back seat. I removed the black shaving kit bag and observed a firearm inside of the vehicle. I knew Greene was a convicted felon due to one of his warrants were for possession of firearm by convicted felon.
I directed Ofc. Crosby that we needed to immediately detain Green due to the possible risk of flight.
Due to finding the weapon, a separate CRN from the warrant’s case number was pulled.
Greene’s arrest for his warrants are under 230204104.
