On April 21, 2022 at approximately 1042 hours I, DS H. Spradlin, was patrolling the area of East Newnan Bypass Road and Poplar Road, when I conducted a traffic stop on a black BMW. Prior to stopping the vehicle a GCIC return of the BMW, bearing a Georgia license plate #[REDACTED], showed the vehicle had no insurance, the registration was suspended, and the registered owner, Anesha Smith’s, drivers license was also suspended.

Upon stopping and approaching the vehicle, I observed, due to my training and experience, what I knew to be cannabis shake, in the lap of the passenger, and smelled the odor of marijuana emitting from the vehicle.

Both Anesha and the passenger were removed from the vehicle and Anesha was placed in handcuffs and in the back of my patrol vehicle, for the duration of the traffic stop.

The passenger was detained at the front of my patrol vehicle with DS McEachern and DS Wood. Anesha was told she would be going to jail for driving with a suspended license and suspended registration.

My department issued body worn camera was active throughout the arrest and the vehicle was towed by Baxter and Sons Wrecker service. Anesha was transported to the Coweta County Jail without incident.
