On September 5, 2023, while on my way back from juvenile court, I received a phone call from assistant principal, [REDACTED] needing an officer at East Coweta High School for a situation. I called Deputy Scott Matthewson, who was at Lee Middle School to respond.
Upon my arrival, I met with Principal [VICTIM #1] who was visibly upset and sweating profusely. [VICTIM #1] essentially told me that students Dystiny Smith and [REDACTED BY AGENCY] got into a fight in the courtyard. Once the two students were separated, he attempted to escort Dystiny to the front office. In doing so, Dystiny cursed at him, kicked him in his legs, hit him in the face and chest along the way. [VICTIM #1] complained that his back was hurting due to the incident.
The schools surveillance camera shows both Dystiny and [REDACTED BY AGENCY] walk toward the middle of the courtyard at which time [REDACTED BY AGENCY] takes off her sweater and they both began to fight until separated by staff members. I explained to Dystiny that I would like to talk with her but I would have to read her Miranda Warnings. After reading her Miranda, she did not want to talk with me.
Dystiny was taken into custody and transported to the Jail for processing. I will submit a juvenile complaint on [REDACTED BY AGENCY] for Affray. BWC activated with my interactions with Dystiny. IBR would not allow me to add Affray to this report; however, Affray was added on the Warrantless Affidavit.
