On 5/28/2022, at approximately 0510 hours, I was running stationary rear radar on I-85 S near mile marker 49 in reference to a traffic complaint. An off duty special agent with the Norfolk Southern Police advised that a light colored vehicle had passed him on I-85 near Union City at speeds in excess of 120mph. I observed a silver Malibu (GA#[REDACTED]) approaching at a high rate of speed which I visually estimated at 120mph. 1 observed the vehicle cut across several lanes of traffic and then quickly slow down upon sight of me. I was able to observe 111mph on my rear radar which I locked in as I activated my BWC and initiated a traffic stop.

I made contact with the driver, Jamarcus Mitchell, and identified myself. I asked him he knew why I was stopping him and he said no. I advised him that it was for his excessive speed and driving and he advised that he was just trying to get home. Based on the reckless driving observed and speed, Mitchell was placed under arrest. He was placed in handcuffs behind his back which where checked for a proper fit and double locked. He was searched incident to arrest and placed in the cleared backseat of my patrol car. The next list wrecker was requested and Caswel Is arrived on scene and impounded the vehicle. Mitchell was transported to Coweta County Jail without incident and turned over to jail staff along with his property. He was issued citations for Speeding and Reckless Driving and copies were placed in his property.

Nothing further at this time.
