On 08/01/2022 at approximately 1237hrs, while sitting stationary at [100 BLOCK] Herry Rd., I observed a gray Ford Fusion (GA Tag # [REDACTED]) pass by me with that appeared to be dark window tint.

I then pulled out behind the vehicle and attempted to catch up to it. It appeared that the vehicle accelerated once it observed my pull out onto the roadway. I observed the vehicle turn into Pine By The Creek Apartment Complex on Herry Rd. While the vehicle was turning into the apartment complex, I activated my emergency equipment to conduct a traffic stop. The vehicle came to a stop at the back of the apartment complex.

I approached the vehicle and asked the driver why he did not stop sooner and he advised he was trying to get the vehicle back to his girlfriend. I asked the driver for his identification and he advised he did not have it and provided a name of Tereco Houston with date of birth [REDACTED BY AGENCY]/1990. I then asked Tereco to step out of the vehicle. I asked Coweta County 911 to check the name he provided. Coweta County 911 advised that Tereco had a suspended license for child support obligations. While at the window speaking with Tereco, I could smell the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle.

While Tereco was standing in the front of my patrol car, Tereco would walk around and reach inside his pockets. At that moment, I advised Tereco to place his hands behind his back. I placed handcuffs to the rear, check for fit, and double locked them. At that time, D/S MuCuster arrived on scene. I searched the vehicle and no suspected illegal items were found.

I advised Tereco he was being placed under arrest at that time. I walked Tereco to the rear of my patrol car, conducted a search incident to arrest and placed him in rear. Before the vehicle was released to the registered owner, I used my county issued window tint meter and measured the front driver side window at 30% and the back driver side window at 19%.

The vehicle was then released to Tereco girlfriend (The Registered Owner). I then transported Tereco to the Coweta County Sheriff’s Office where he was handed over to booking staff without incident.

Tereco was charged with

  • Driving on a suspended license, and
  • Window tint.
