On April 20, 2022, at 2203 hours, I was observing traffic around mile marker 53S on Interstate 85. When I observed a passenger car traveling above the posted speed limit of 70mph.

I activated my Pro Lidar 4 (serial#LF16463), which was calibrated at 1910 hours. I clocked the passenger car, a green Jeep Renegade bearing FL tag [REDACTED], traveling 97mph in a 70mph zone. I activated my lights and siren to initiate a uniformed traffic stop. The Jeep pulled to the right emergency lane just before GA 154.

I exited my patrol vehicle and made a passenger-side approach. After walking up to the front passenger window, I made driver, Timothy Whetstone aware I was DS. Holloway with the Coweta County Sheriff’s Office and the reason for the uniformed traffic stop. I asked For Timothy’s driver’s license.

While talking to Timothy I smelled the odor of green marijuana coming from the interior of the vehicle. I walked around the driver’s door and asked Timothy to step out of the vehicle. I searched Timothy’s person and had him walk to the front of my patrol car. I searched the interior of the vehicle and located a mason jar with a small amount of marijuana.

I walked back to my patrol vehicle and detained Timothy. I then ran Timothy through GCIC/NCIC, and his AL OLN returned suspended all. I had the passneger, Cherquaisha Hall stomp the marijuana out and dispose of it and turned the vehicle over to her.

I transported Timothy to the Coweta County Sheriff’s Office, and he was issued a citation for speeding and driving while suspended. Timothy was turned over to the jail staff without incident. Audio and video were recorded on my body-worn camera.
