On 11/2/2021 while on duty, I responded to in reference to a domestic. Dispatch told me that the suspect/husband is drunk and tearing up the house, throwing things.

Upon my arrival, I met with the victim/caller Mrs. [VICTIM #1]. [VICTIM #1] appeared very emotional and was crying. [VICTIM #1] reported her husband, John Newkirk came home drunk and began to argue with her. [VICTIM #1] stated he began to throw stuff around and tear up the house. [VICTIM #1] stated she was very upset over the antique coffee table he destroyed because it belonged to her mother. I did notice the living room was a mess as if someone threw stuff around. I noticed the coffee table [VICTIM #1] was talking about. It was upside down and legs broken off. [VICTIM #1] further stated he also poured sugar in the gas tank of his own motorcycle. [VICTIM #1] stated John has dementia and when hes drunk he gets like this.

I went outside to talk to John. John appeared to not want to talk to me. He seemed very agitated and began to walk off. John was arrested at that time for Criminal Trespass (FVA). John did resist a little during the arrest but was able to handcuff him behind his back successfully without further incident with the help of Officer Ed Hall, Ivan Sanchez and Mario Nichols.

John was searched incident to arrest yielding no contraband or weapons. John was then placed in the rear passenger seat of my patrol unit. John was not seat belted in due to his high aggression and demeanor. While in the back seat, John was kicking the back seat and banging his head on the partition. I asked dispatch to notify the jail for a possibly combative subject upon arrival.

John was then transported to CDC, where he was left with the jail staff without further incident. I will be applying for a state Criminal Trespass (FVA) warrant on John for destroying [VICTIM #1]’s coffee table.
