On the above date and time, I responded to 3530 Community Rd; Autozone, in reference to a gunshot.
Upon arrival on scene, I made my way inside of the store, where I observed a black female, identified as [REDACTED BY AGENCY] behind the counter on the floor covered in large amount of blood. I asked [REDACTED BY AGENCY] where was she shot and she stated that she was shot in the back. I observed one entry wound to her right shoulder blade. I then was able to put some paper towels over the wound and applied pressure until EMS arrived on scene.
I asked [REDACTED BY AGENCY] if she knew who shot her and she stated yes, it was [REDACTED BY AGENCY] Roderick West. I asked [REDACTED BY AGENCY] what led up to Mr. West shooting her and she stated that they have been getting into it all weekend and he asked her to bring him his gun. She stated that when she returned to Brunswick from Orange Crush in Savannah, she took Mr. West’s gun to him. She stated that when she got to his residence at [200 BLOCK] Poplar St, Mr. West was outside already. She stated that she rolled her window down slightly and handed the gun over to Mr. West. She stated that Mr. West grabbed the gun, look at it, racked the slide and then began shooting at her vehicle. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] then stated she sped off down Poplar St going towards Old Cypress Mill Rd. She stated that by the time she made it to the stop sign, that’s when she realized that she was shot and switched seats with her friend, [REDACTED BY AGENCY] so that she could go to the hospital.
I then spoke with [REDACTED BY AGENCY] who stated that after they switched seats, Mr. West began chasing them and continued to shoot at the vehicle. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] then stated that when she got to the intersection of Old Cypress Mill Rd and Community Rd, she wrecked the vehicle. She stated that after wrecking the vehicle, her and [REDACTED BY AGENCY] ran over to Autozone to get help. I asked [REDACTED BY AGENCY] was she hurt or shot anywhere and she stated no, but she was just shook up. I continued to apply pressure to [REDACTED BY AGENCY] wound until EMS came inside of the store and took over first aid to her.
I then asked [REDACTED BY AGENCY] did she remember what kind of car Mr. West was driving, which she stated that it was a [REDACTED BY AGENCY] Other responding units were out at Mr. West residence and stated that there was a [REDACTED BY AGENCY] parked inside of the garage, which was later identified by another witness who advised that the [REDACTED BY AGENCY] was the offending vehicle. I was able to obtain a picture of Mr. West and sent it out to other responding units.
EMS loaded [REDACTED BY AGENCY] into the ambulance and transported her to the ER, which she was ultimately flown to Savannah for further treatment. I stood by with [REDACTED BY AGENCY] until CID arrived on scene. Detective Hall later arrived along with Crime Scene Tech [REDACTED] and took over the scene. I was then advised that [REDACTED BY AGENCY] needed to be transported to Headquarters for questioning, which I then transported her and released her to Detectives Varnedoe and Edgy.
