On Saturday, March 19, 2022, at approximately 15:19 hours, I was following a blue Honda Civic traveling south on Highway 247 that had an overwhelming odor of marijuana coming from it. I observed the car more closely and could see the driver and front-seat passenger exchanging an item they were smoking. There were no other cars around us that the odor could have been coming from.
I notified dispatch I was conducting a traffic stop on the Honda and initiated my emergency lights and siren. The Honda came to a complete stop at the intersection of Highway 247 and Highway 127. After the stop, illegal narcotics and drug paraphernalia were found, and the driver was determind to be D.U.I. The driver and front seat passenger were arrested and taken to the Houston County Detention Center.
