On 05/06/2022 at 0650 hrs. I, Ofc. Hall was dispatched to the area of Keith Dr. and Johns Rd. in reference to shots fired.

Upon arrival, I stopped at [100 BLOCK] Keith Dr. and asked two people on there porch and asked if they had heard any gun shots. They stated they had and then saw a person on the phone talking about how he had just shot up a house. The two people gave a description of a black male wearing a white shirt and pink shorts walking toward Johns Rd.

When I entered the intersection of Keith Dr. and Johns Rd. and saw a suspect matching the description given to me by the witnesses. I attempted to make contact with the person. But upon sight of my patrol car the suspect fled. I saw the suspect run into the wood line behind [300 BLOCK] Johns Rd. I witnessed the suspect begin to run back toward Keith Dr.

I was able to detain the suspect at [300 BLOCK] Johns Rd. The suspect Identified himself as Avery Griggs. When I searched Mr. Griggs I was not able to find a firearm. Mr. Griggs was then transported to Warner Robins Police Department. I completed a gun shot residue kit on Mr. Griggs.

While transporting Mr. Griggs he stated that he was on probation when I asked what he was on probation for he stated that he was arrested and convicted on Armed Robbery I then requested Mr. Griggs criminal recorded and found that he had been convicted of multiple violent felonies.

Ofc. Optiz was requested to be on scene to locate the firearm with his K-9 but we were unable to locate the firearm. I returned to [100 BLOCK] Keith Dr. and spoke to the witnesses [WITNESS #1] and [WITNESS #2]. They advised that they heard the shots and shortly after came outside and saw Mr. Griggs walking down the North of Keith Rd talking on the phone about how he had just shot up a house and lost his backpack full of bullets.

When asked if they saw Mr. Griggs with a firearm they stated that they saw a black handgun sticking out of the front of his waistband. I asked if they could tell anything about the firearm and Mr. [WITNESS #2] advised it looked just like my duty weapon a Glock 17.

I was contacted after the scene was cleared by one of the residence at [300 BLOCK] Johns Rd. [WITNESS #3]. He advised he drove his vehicle a 1992 Chevy Caprice tag:[REDACTED] through the area of the chase and got a flat tire. Mr. [WITNESS #3] advised when he inspected the tire he found a shell casing in the rear passenger side tire. That casing was collected and turned into evidence.

All parties were given a case number and advised on how to obtain a copy of this report. I will be seeking warrants on Mr. Griggs for Loitering and Prowling, Obstruction (M), Possession of a Firearm in the Commission of a Crime, and a Possession of a Firearm as a Felon.
