Officer’s Narrative:

On September 1, 2022, at approximately 1913 hours, I was assigned to the Houston County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) Traffic Division. I was wearing an assigned uniform from the Houston County Sheriff’s Office with the badge clearly displayed and driving a marked Patrol vehicle unit # 834.

I was sitting stationary on Georgia 96 near Bear Country Blvd when I observed a white Infiniti traveling west on Georgia 96 in the right lane. As the Infiniti passed my location, I noticed the driver was not wearing his seatbelt. I pulled out behind the Infiniti to conduct a traffic stop. As I was approaching the Infiniti in my patrol vehicle, I noticed the driver throw a clear plastic bag out of the driver’s window containing a green leafy substance suspected to be Marijuana. I activated my emergency equipment and conducted a traffic stop on the Infiniti.

I made a driver side approach on the Infiniti and instructed the driver out of the car. While making contact with the driver I noticed the strong odor of Marijuana emitting from inside of the Infiniti. I had the driver step in front of my patrol vehicle where he provided his Georgia driver’s license, and I was able to identify him as Mr. Carlos Eason. I placed Mr. Eason under arrest in double locked handcuffs behind the back. Mr. Eason was advised his rights and agreed to speak. Mr. Eason was then secured in the rear passenger seat of my patrol vehicle. I transported Mr. Eason to the Houston County Detention Center and released him to the jail staff for booking.

2005 INFINITI G35:

A probable cause search of the Infiniti was conducted nothing illegal was found. The Infiniti was turned over to the on-call wrecker service Taylor Towing on scene.

Due to Mr. Eason stating on camera that he did not throw Marijuana out of his window I am charging him with false statements and writings and tampering with evidence. I clearly saw it coming out of his drivers window and it is on my in car camera system. Deputies checked the area where Mr. Eason threw the Marijuana outside of the window but were unable to locate the bag. I will be securing warrants on Mr. Eason on the next available date.
