Officer’s Narrative:

On 6/2/2022 at 1607 hours I was conducting a direct patrol on Kelly Dr. I observed a white Toyota Camry (Ga tag [REDACTED]) fail to stop at the stop sign, turning right from Kelly Dr onto Pineland Ave. As I was approaching the vehicle, I observed the vehicle fail to stop at the stop sign on Pineland Ave and Glenn Bryant Dr.

I initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle, activating my blue light and sirens. We came to a final stop on Ogeechee Rd. I made contact with the driver and informed her the reason for the stop. The driver gave me her driver’s license, identifying her as Angela Thompson. I asked central dispatch to run the Ga driver’s license number through GCIC/NCIC. Central dispatch informed me the driver’s license was suspended for DUI with a suspension date of 4/20/2022.

I asked Ms Thompson if she was aware that her license was suspended. She informed me that she was aware. I asked Ms Thompson to step out of the vehicle and informed her that she was under arrest for driving on a suspended license. She was placed in handcuffs, checked for fit and double locked. Ms Thompson was then placed in the back of my patrol vehicle. Ms Thompson gave permission to release her vehicle to the passenger, [REDACTED], who had a valid license.

Ms Thompson was then transported to LCJ and released to their custody. Ms Thompson was issued a citation for driving on suspended license and two citations for the stop signs. Ms Thompson’s driver’s license was seized and she was issued an official notice of revocation/suspension. The notice and license were turned in.

My department issued body camera was worn and recording.

The arrest and transport of the suspect followed the department protocol consisting of the suspect being searched, handcuffs being applied, checked for fit, and double locked. The suspect was seat belted for transport and the vehicle was searched prior to and after transport with no contraband found.

The suspect was released to the custody of the Liberty County detention staff without incident.
