On August 7, 2023, at 0305 hours Investigator Michael McDonald along with members of the Richmond County Special Operations Division and Criminal Investigation Division, executed a search warrant at 1135 13Th Avenue Augusta Georgia 30904.

After making entry into the residence Investigator McDonald made contact with Willie Bates in the master bedroom. Willie Bates was detained and a search of the residence was conducted. Inside the master bedroom Investigator McDonald located a blue and white Fila shoe beside the bed.

Inside the shoe was a green Crown Royal bag. Inside the bag Investigator McDonald located a clear bag with approximately 8 grams of marijuana and a second clear bag with approximately .2 grams of powder cocaine. Investigator McDonald then located a black Taurus G2C, 9mm handgun with a magazine and 3 rounds bearing a serial number of AEB044724 in a purple bag on the floor next to the bed. Investigator McDonald also located an empty extended magazine in the same bag.

On the left side of the dresser Investigator McDonald located a brown Ruger .22 cal rifle bearing a serial number of 122-84931. n the room with the recording equipment Deputy Michael Morton located a yellow plastic bag between the cushions of the gray couch in the room. Inside the yellow bag was a clear plastic bag with approximatley 5.9 grams of marijuana.

A search was then conducted of the vehicles. Inside a red 2005 Cadillac Escalade bearing a Gereogia license plate [REDACTED] which when ran through GCIC came back registered to Willie Bates. Investigator McDonald located a black trash bag and a black and red nylon bag on the passenger front seat and floor. Inside the bags were several clear plastic bags and vacuum sealed bags containg a total weight of approximately 1946.3g of marijuana which is equivelant to 4 pounds.

Investigator McDonald collected all the evidence and field tested the marijuana with postive results. The firearms were run throught GCIC by Investigator McDonald which showed no record. Investigator McDonald then read Willie Bates his Miranda rights which he waived. Bates stated the narcotics and the firearm were his. Bates was then arrested and committed to the jail on the listed charges.
