3 People. 2 Lovers. 1 Target?

Lindsay Shiver was a Georgia mother, former pageant queen, and the wife of former Auburn football player Robert Shiver. But in July 2023, an unrelated police investigation in the Bahamas uncovered a WhatsApp message that would turn their bitter divorce into an international criminal case: “Kill him.” Authorities accused Lindsay Shiver, her boyfriend Terrance Bethel, and Faron Newbold Jr. of conspiring to murder Robert Shiver. But Lindsay and Terrance have disputed that interpretation, maintaining that the messages were angry words taken out of context—not an actual murder plot. In this episode of Behind The Headlines, we examine the Lindsay Shiver case from the breakdown of her marriage and the discovery of the WhatsApp messages to the arrests in the Bahamas, the disputed role of Faron Newbold Jr., years of court battles, and where the case stands today. More than three years after the arrests, the central question remains unresolved: Was “Kill him” evidence of a genuine murder conspiracy—or an angry message that police interpreted as something far more serious? Lindsay Shiver, Terrance Bethel, and Faron Newbold Jr. have pleaded not guilty. The allegations discussed in this video have not been proven at trial.
