Arson, burglary charges filed in connection with March blaze at Miller Auto Repair

DALTON – An arrest has been made in connection with a fire that occurred on March 16, 2020 at Miller Auto Repair, located at 222 E Morris Street in Dalton.

Christopher Matthew Lawler, 29, of 929 Thomas Road, was charged on Friday with first-degree burglary, first-degree arson, and concealing evidence by the Dalton Police Department after a lengthy investigation. Lawler was released the next day on a $20,000 bond. 

Lawler is the nephew of the business owner, Johnny Miller.

According to a police report, the criminal objective was theft. A computer, firearm, vehicle, and $3,000 in cash were stolen during the crime. It in unclear why the fire was started.
