Mother, Daughter charged for stealing hats from Dalton Walmart

DALTON – The following incident report was filed by the Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office regarding the arrests of Kemmley Frazier (mother) and Alexis Danielle Austin (Daughter) on August 16 on a single charge of misdemeanor shoplifting.

Deputy Fernandez responded to Walmart in reference to a shoplifter in custody. Once on scene Deputy Fernandez met with the caller [LP OFFICER].

Ms. [LP OFFICER] had 2 females in the office who were the offenders. Ms. [LP OFFICER] stated Kennley Frazier was observed ripping tags off of hats and throwing them on the ground. She then went to a self-checkout kiosk and bagged the hats making no attempt to pay for them. She then passed all points of sale before being apprehended by loss prevention associates.

Once in the office Ms. [LP OFFICER] stated that she would like to charge Alexis Austin with shoplifting as well. She showed Deputy Fernandez the video and Ms. Austin was standing next to her mother Ms. Frazier while she skipped scanned the hats. Ms. Frazier stated that she “did it” but Ms. Austin didn’t know about it.

Deputy Fernandez cited Ms. Austin on Magistrate court citation #00314 for violating OCGA 16-8-14 Theft by shoplifting. Ms. Frazier was placed into custody by cuffing her in the front at proper fitment and double locking.

She was advised that she had an active warrant and was being taken to the sheriffs office. Once there, she was served with Warrant #W20-967. She was also charged on Warrantless arrest #63102 for violating OCGA 16-8-14 Theft by shoplifting.
