On 12-29-22 myself and other officers were dispatched to the area of [1600 BLOCK] Ryman Ridge Rd in reference to a male prowling the area wearing a masked hood.
Once on scene myself, Officer Walker, and Officer Black parked our vehicles in front of [1700 BLOCK] Ryman Ridge Rd and walked towards [1600 BLOCK] Ryman Ridge Rd due to the possibility of the prowler being armed. Once we reached [1600 BLOCK] Ryman Ridge Rd I then went and made contact with the caller, [VICTIM #1].
[VICTIM #1] stated that a male subject walked onto his side door porch and attempted to enter his home by trying to open the door. [VICTIM #1] then showed me a video of a male subject wearing gray shorts, a dark jacket, and a hoodie over his face attempting to open the door on the east side of his residence. I then left this residence and walked towards [1600 BLOCK] Ryman Ridge Rd to attempt to locate the male. After this unsuccessful attempt I then went back to [VICTIM #1] and spoke with him again.
[VICTIM #1] then began to inform me that others in the neighborhood believe they had become victims of this same subject due to their video camera footage. [VICTIM #1] even pointed to his next door neighbor at [1600 BLOCK] Ryman Ridge and said that his vehicle was entered. Officer Walker then went to the neighbor and spoke to him about this case.
While speaking with [VICTIM #1] I heard Officer Jones stopping a vehicle that he had believed to be involved with this crime. Due to my radio’s battery being low I then had to call Officer Jones on my cell phone. While on the phone Officer Jones was asking me what exactly this male suspect was wearing. I then was able to describe that he was wearing a fanny pack/satchel with black tennis shoes and white socks. Officer Jones then told me that he believes that he has the suspect. Other officers then arrived at Officer Jones’ location.
[VICTIM #1] checked the vehicle he had out in front of his house and found that the vehicle was locked and had not be messed with. [VICTIM #1] believes that nothing was stolen from him.
Officer Jones then called me back and confirmed that the male he had stopped was in fact the same male suspect who was attempting to enter [1600 BLOCK] Ryman Ridge Rd.
[VICTIM #1] emailed me a link to the video footage showing the suspect attempting to go inside the residence. I have attached the video.
Officer Jones charged the suspect (Bryan Romero) with loitering and prowling and criminal attempt for burglary on warrantless arrest form #66886.
