On November 14, 2021 at approximately 1637 hours, Deputy Schaub was dispatched to 2545 E. Walnut Ave. at the Walmart in reference to two shoplifters that were in the Loss Prevention office. Loss Prevention advised dispatch that they were being cooperative.

Upon arrival, Deputy Schaub made contact with loss Prevention employee, Ms. [WITNESS #1] and the two shoplifting subjects, Mr. Noel Cruz and Ms. Isabel Ponce Estrada. The subjects were observed at the self-checkout “skip scanning” merchandise and bagging them without making any attempt to pay for the items. The subjects then exited the grocery side doors where they were met by Loss Prevention and escorted back to their office. The following items were found to be not paid for. One Aqua plaid blanket for $8.88, 2 Drapes at $16.96 each, one ONN IPV Phone at $9.88, one Tide at $9.44, one Otter Case at $39.97, and one dustpan at $1.18. The cost of all the items that were not paid for equaled $111.50.

Before Deputy Schaub placed the subjects under arrest, he had the subjects call a family member to pick up their two small juveniles they had with them. After the family member picked up both juveniles, Deputy Schaub place Ms. Estrada and Mr. Cruz under arrest.

Deputy Schaub transported them to the Whitfield County Sheriff’s’s Office and charged them both with O.C.G.A 16-8-14, Theft by Shoplifting Misdemeanor, shown on warrantless arrest #64910. Mr. Cruz and Ms. Estrada were handed over to the booking staff without incident.
