On August 7, 2023, approximately 0143 hours Deputy Kadinger was dispatched to [2200 BLOCK] Dawnville Rd. in reference to a disturbance in progress. Upon arrival Deputy Kadinger came in contact with [VICTIM #1]. [VICTIM #1] gave the following information.
[VICTIM #1] advised that Reece Elrod had rammed his vehicle into his own multiple times. The vehicle was pushed against the stair railing in front of his trailer. He stated Reece jumped out of his vehicle and approached him yelling obscenities. [VICTIM #1] advised Reece then wrapped his hands around his throat trying to strangle him. Fearing for his life [VICTIM #1] shoved Reece off of him and locked his door to protect himself and called 911. He advised before Deputies arrived Reece got back in his vehicle and drove back to his office. He advised Reece was known to have firearms in his office and on his person.
Observing [VICTIM #1] vehicle both driver and passenger side front doors had dents from the impact of Reece’s vehicle. A mark on the ground indicated the vehicle was pushed from the passenger side.
Deputy Kadinger approached Reece’s office attempting to make contact with him. Deputies searched the surrounding areas. Deputies observed damages to the front bumper of Reece’s vehicle. It matched with the description of what [VICTIM #1] had stated happened. Upon a second search around the office Deputies saw Reece inside. After given multiple verbal commands to get Reece outside. Reece finally came outside via the side door.
Reece appeared to act in a altered state. His speech was slurred and he could not maintain his balance. When approached by Deputies, Reece turned back to the door and tried to run back inside. Deputies afraid Reece was going back inside the office to retrieve a firearm wrestled Reece to the ground and away from the door. Reece began yelling obscenities at the Deputies.
Deputies gained control of Reece and placed him under arrest. Deputies then rendered first aid to Reece’s injuries; he received a cut on his arm and a cut on his wrist. Reece had also scraped his knuckles on the ground. Deputies placed bandages on the injuries that he received during the apprehension.
Reece was transported to Whitfield County Detention center and was turned over to booking staff with no further incident. Reece was charged with O.C.G.A 16-5-21 Aggravated Assault and O.C.G.A 16-7-23 Criminal Damage to Property 2ND Degree on warrantless arrest# 67722.
