I was dispatched to [200 BLOCK] Back of the Woods Way in reference to a domestic that had just occurred. Prior to my arrival, dispatch advised that the male party, Dakota Knowles, had left in a maroon and gold Chevrolet Silverado. Utilizing Flock, I was able to identify the vehicle and provide a better description to responding deputies. A short time later, Deputy Henderson advised she located the vehicle and Dakota Knowles at the Quick Fill gas station, located at 140 Old River Bridge Road.

Upon my arrival at the residence, I made contact with the complainant and victim, [VICTIM #1]. [VICTIM #1] stated that Dakota arrived at the house irate, demanding to see their daughter, [REDACTED]. [VICTIM #1] stated that she did not answer the door, due to Dakota’s demeanor. While inside, [VICTIM #1] was recording Dakota as he yelled and beat on the door. After a few moments in the video, I observed Dakota kick a dog. [VICTIM #1] stated that when she saw Dakota kick her dog, Bebe, and grab the dog by the neck, she ran outside to get him to stop. [VICTIM #1] stated Dakota released the dog and began walking toward her.

[VICTIM #1] stated that she attempted to run back into the residence, but Dakota grabbed her by the neck from behind, spun her around, and continued squeezing her throat. [VICTIM #1] stated that as Dakota was choking her, she was scared for her life and could not breathe. She further stated it felt like Dakota was trying to crush her windpipe. [VICTIM #1] stated Dakota threw her to the ground and threw her phone into the yard. Dakota then went inside the residence and retrieved [REDACTED]. [VICTIM #1] had retrieved her phone and called 911 by the time Dakota exited the residence. [VICTIM #1] stated that when Dakota realized [VICTIM #1] was on the phone with law enforcement, he set [REDACTED] down and left the scene.

I observed red marks on [VICTIM #1]’s neck consistent with having been choked. [VICTIM #1] also had cuts and scrapes on her elbow from being thrown down. She explained that she pushed off and hit Dakota in an attempt to get him away from her while he was choking her. [VICTIM #1] took photos after the altercation showing her injuries and is emailing them to me to be added to the report.

I advised Deputy Henderson of the injuries and instructed her to place Dakota under arrest. Deputy Henderson stated that Dakota had visible marks on his body consistent with [VICTIM #1]’s account. Dakota was placed under arrest and transported to the jail without incident.

Dakota was charged with Aggravated Assault Family Violence (Strangulation), Cruelty to Children 3rd Degree, and Cruelty to Animals.
