I was dispatched to [100 BLOCK] North Main Street, Lot [REDACTED], in reference to Demetris Walker trespassing and harassing juveniles.
Upon arrival, I made contact with [JUVENILE #1], [JUVENILE #2], and [JUVENILE #3]. I asked the juveniles to have their mother step outside to speak with me. [VICTIM #1] stated she was inside the residence while the juveniles were outside swimming in the pool. [VICTIM #1] stated the juveniles began screaming and crying, so she went outside to check on them. She stated that when she exited the residence, she was met by Demetris Walker standing on the front porch. [VICTIM #1] stated that Walker began yelling and swinging a stick in her direction. [VICTIM #1] stated she pepper-sprayed Walker, and he left the property on a pink bicycle.
I also spoke to the juveniles, who stated that while they were in the pool, Walker entered the property via the driveway, began yelling, and swung his stick at them. The juveniles stated they were scared of Walker, and believed he was going to hurt them.
Deputy Kile responded to assist in locating Walker. While I was speaking with [VICTIM #1] at the residence, Walker rode past on the pink bicycle. When Walker rode past the residence, the juveniles pointed and stated, “That’s him.” Deputy Kile saw Walker and attempted to initiate a stop by activating her emergency vehicle lights so that I could speak with him and issue a formal trespass warning from [100 BLOCK] North Main Street. It was also confirmed that Walker had an outstanding felony warrant for failure to appear.
Deputy Kile attempted to stop Walker, who was still on his bicycle, but he refused to comply. I positioned my patrol vehicle behind Deputy Kile and Walker, activating my emergency lights and siren. I then maneuvered my vehicle to place myself in front of Walker and exited in an attempt to physically stop him, but was unsuccessful. Walker continued north on North Main Street before turning left onto Azalea Circle.
Walker stopped at his residence at [100 BLOCK] Azalea Circle and dismounted his bicycle. Deputy Kile and I exited our vehicles and observed Walker holding the stick described by the juveniles. He raised it high and motioned as if to strike Deputy Kile with it. After being given lawful commands to drop the stick, Walker ran inside his residence and refused to come out. I spoke to him through a window, instructing him to exit and asking if he required medical attention after being pepper-sprayed.
Deputy Kile attempted to kick open the door Walker had entered, but it was jammed at the top. Additional units arrived and were able to force the door open, discovering a couch blocking it. I attempted to grab Walker by the arm, but he continued to ignore lawful commands. Walker walked away from the doorway, at which point Deputy Schneider deployed his department-issued Taser 7, causing Walker to fall to the floor. Deputy Rickey and I entered the residence and placed Walker under arrest.
Walker was escorted to my patrol vehicle and searched by Deputy Schneider before being placed in the back seat. A small bag, of the type commonly used for loose tobacco sold at gas stations, was found on Walker’s person. Inside the bag was a crystalline substance along with loose tobacco.
Walker was transported to the jail and turned over to jail staff without further incident. The following charges were filed against Walker: Possession of a Schedule II Substance, Disorderly Conduct, Obstruction of Officers (three counts), and Fleeing or Attempting to Elude Law Enforcement. Walker was also advised of the formal trespass from [100 BLOCK] North Main Street.
After Walker was turned over to jail staff, the crystalline substance, presumed to be methamphetamine, field-tested positive. The suspected methamphetamine was separated from the tobacco and placed into evidence locker #006 with a completed evidence form and GBI submission form. The tobacco was disposed of.
