On 01/24/2026 at approximately 0315 hours, I was dispatched to [2400 BLOCK] Grandview Drive apartment [REDACTED] in reference to a male pulling a gun on the complainant and firing a shot into the floor. I was also informed that the complainant/victim, [VICTIM #1], left the residence in a black in color Tahoe and was traveling towards Laura Court.
When this call was dispatched, I was already in the general area and was responding to another call for service. As I approached the intersection of Grandview Drive and River Ridge Road, I saw a black Tahoe stopped on the side of the road. I then got out with the vehicle where I began speaking with [VICTIM #1]. While speaking with [VICTIM #1], I made sure she was not injured in any way. [VICTIM #1] stated she was not shot, but she was visibly shaking. [VICTIM #1] stated he shot the floor of the room she was in.
[VICTIM #1] then began explaining that she was out with her sister and noticed that she had a notification on her phone informing her that someone was trying to log into TikTok on her iPad which was at her residence. [VICTIM #1] stated she called the father of her children, Deonte Henley, and asked him what he was doing on her iPad. [VICTIM #1] stated Henley told her he was trying to do something and left it at that. [VICTIM #1] stated that when she arrived back at the residence, she noticed the gun she keeps in her car was unloaded. [VICTIM #1] stated when she walked into her apartment, she went into her room where her iPad was.
[VICTIM #1] stated Henley got up and followed her into her bedroom. [VICTIM #1] stated Henley told her “you have something to hide in your iPad.” [VICTIM #1] said she told Henley no, but she saw where he was trying to log into TikTok on it. [VICTIM #1] stated Henley told her “you must think I am something to play with.” [VICTIM #1] said she told Henley “no” and saw he had a black and silver gun, unknown make, model, or caliber. [VICTIM #1] stated Henley then told her to unlock her phone when she told him no. [VICTIM #1] stated Henley then shot the floor near her foot. [VICTIM #1] stated she then backed up in the corner between her bed and the wall where Henley put the gun to her head. [VICTIM #1] stated she then called her sister, [WITNESS #1]. I then told [VICTIM #1] to stay where she was at while I went to the residence.
When officers and I arrived at the residence, I saw Henley on the front porch of the residence smoking a cigarette. As I was approaching Henley, I could see that he did not have a weapon in his hand. I asked Henley what happened between him and [VICTIM #1] when he said nothing. When I got close to Henley, I did a Terry Pat of his person checking for weapons, but none were located. I then had Henley sit down on the porch where I asked him if anyone was inside of the residence, which he replied no. I then asked Henley if he owned a gun when he said no and then informed me he was a convicted felon.
I then told dispatch to call [VICTIM #1] and ask her to return to the residence so I could figure out what was going on. While waiting for [VICTIM #1] to arrive, I asked Henley if he and [VICTIM #1] got into an argument when he said no and then stated they got into an argument a couple of days ago. [VICTIM #1] further stated that he and Henley have lived together at various locations since 2020. Henley also stated [VICTIM #1] was the only one who owns a gun and she pulled it on him several days prior.
When [VICTIM #1] arrived back at the residence, I asked [VICTIM #1] if she would walk with me inside of the residence and walk me through what happened. [VICTIM #1] then exited her vehicle shoeless, leading me to believe she left the residence in a hurry because of how cold it was. As [VICTIM #1] and I were walking by Henley, who was standing in the front yard, he stated “the other day you pulled a gun out on me, tried to shoot me, but I didn’t call the police.” When Henley and I walked into the residence I noticed a large amount of stuff was piled up by the front door, which I was later told was Henley’s. [VICTIM #1] and I then walked into her bedroom where she began explaining again what happened and where she was.
Once in the bedroom, [VICTIM #1] pointed beside her bed and stated “it was right in this area.” It was at this point I began looking on the floor for a bullet hole in the carpet or a shell casing. While searching the area, there were a lot of clothes, hangers, shoes, and trash on the floor. While searching the floor I was moving items but was not able to locate a shell casing or a bullet hole.
While looking on the floor, [VICTIM #1] stated “I know yall smell that.” I then asked her if she was referring to gun powder when she said yes. At this time, I was having sinus problems because of the weather change and was not able to smell anything. I then looked at Officer Skaggs and asked him if he could smell it when he said, “not really.” I then had [VICTIM #1] begin explaining what happened again. [VICTIM #1] stated, while standing at the corner of her bed close to her bedroom door which is where she stated she was standing when the incident occurred, that when she came into her bedroom, she unlocked her iPad.
[VICTIM #1] stated Henley began walking towards the bathroom but ended up coming into her room where he told her “you must think I’m something to play with, you must have something to hide.” [VICTIM #1] stated she told Henley she did not have anything to hide and that was when everything escalated. When asked where the gun came from, [VICTIM #1] stated he was walking around a basket of clothes that was in the living room. I then asked [VICTIM #1] if she could pull up a video from her home surveillance system that might have caught the gunshot. While [VICTIM #1] was scrolling through her cameras, a video of the gunshot was not captured, but I did hear her sister, [WITNESS #1], pull up in her car blowing the horn.
[VICTIM #1] stated when Henley heard [WITNESS #1] outside blowing her horn, he stepped aside and that was when she left the apartment. Once again, I began searching beside the bed looking for a casing and/or bullet hole but did not find it. While I was looking for evidence on the floor, [VICTIM #1] stated she called [WITNESS #1] while Henley was holding a gun to her head. [VICTIM #1] stated she was on the phone with [WITNESS #1] for approximately 32 seconds.
I then walked outside where [WITNESS #1] was still sitting in her vehicle. [WITNESS #1] stated [VICTIM #1] Facetimed her while she was at home. [WITNESS #1] stated when she answered the call, she heard [VICTIM #1] yelling, “let me out, put the gun down.” [WITNESS #1] stated she rushed out of her house and went to [VICTIM #1]’s residence. [WITNESS #1] stated when she started banging on the door, [VICTIM #1] ran out. [WITNESS #1] stated she never saw Henley with a gun.
Next, I spoke with Henley and asked him again if they got into an argument over passwords. Henley stated no, he does not have her password and she does not have his. Henley then began explaining that they both agreed that the relationship was over, and he asked her to take him back to Griffin, but she would not take him. Henley stated she was handicapping him. Henley stated [VICTIM #1] did not want him to go back to Griffin, but she does not want him there with her. While speaking with Henley I did not get very much information about what happened.
After speaking with Henley, I walked back inside of the residence where I saw Officer Skaggs standing in the doorway of the bedroom and I noticed a speaker that was in the bedroom was now sitting in the living room. I asked Officer Skaggs if he found anything when I was then informed that the bottom of the speaker was damaged. While looking at the damage to the bottom of the speaker, I believe a bullet could have passed through the speaker.
I then walked back into the bedroom and kneeled where the speaker was sitting and saw plastic pieces of the speaker on the floor and a bullet hole in the carpet. I did stick my finger into the bullet hole to see if I could feel a projectile but the floor under the carpet was concrete. Upon further inspection, I noticed a tiny piece of the jacketing from a projectile beside the bullet hole. The piece of jacketing was picked up to make sure of what it was.
I then photographed the damage to the speaker, the bullet hole in the carpet, and the piece of the jacketing. [VICTIM #1] was then asked how long it took for her to call the police after the incident. [VICTIM #1] began going through her phone and saw that she called her sister at 0308 hours, sister arrived at her residence at 0311 hours blowing the horn, she left the house at 0312 hours, and the police were called as she was leaving the residence. While asking about where she thought the gun might be, [VICTIM #1] walked over to the pile of Henley’s items stacked up by the front door and picked up a gray camo jacket where a magazine was located, which was later discovered to be a 9MM magazine. Officer Skaggs also picked up something and a 40-caliber bullet fell onto the floor.
I then went outside and detained Henley in handcuffs. Next, I read Henley his Miranda Rights where he agreed to speak with me. I then asked Henley why was there a bullet hole in the speaker, why was there a bullet hole in the floor, and why was there a piece of a bullets jacket on the floor by the bullet hole. Henley stated the speaker has been damaged for a while. Henley also could not explain why there was a bullet hole in the floor but kept saying he did not shoot a gun.
After speaking with Henley, I stepped away and contacted the on-call detective, Detective McLeroy. After explaining to Detective McLeroy what was going on, he told me he would be enroute to complete a search warrant of the residence and to go ahead and transport Henley to the sheriff’s office.
Knowing that [VICTIM #1] owned a gun, I went ahead and got the gun and photographed it. The gun is described as a black in color Glock 23 40 caliber (serial number CXC444).
While waiting on Detective McLeroy, everyone was removed from the residence and the house was secured. When Detective McLeroy arrived on scene with the search warrant, Detective McLeroy, Officer Webb, Officer Skaggs, and I began searching the residence. While searching the residence, a 40-caliber shell casing was located inside of the toilet. Upon search of the apartment, an exterior camera was located near the back door of the residence.
Contact was made with [VICTIM #1] who stated she did not have any movement activations leaving out of the back door. It was noticed that the exterior camera on the back of the house was unplugged. Also located during the search was the projectile. The projectile was located after Detective McLeroy cut the carpet.
The case was turned over to Detective McLeory.
