On 7-26-25, I made contact with [VICTIM #1] in reference to an assault.
[VICTIM #1] stated that she was invited to a party at [600 BLOCK] Highway 49 on 7/26/25. [VICTIM #1] stated Destiny Mears reached out to her via telephone, about [VICTIM #1] attending the party. [VICTIM #1] stated that she was unsure about attending. because of their rocky friendship and the fact that they had both recently dated the same male, which led to arguments between them.
[VICTIM #1] stated that she and Mears have been friends, on and off, for nine years. [VICTIM #1] stated that she and Mears recently had a falling out, during which hostile, offensive language was exchanged between the two of them via text messages, regarding Mears’ current boyfriend, who is [VICTIM #1]’s ex-boyfriend. [VICTIM #1] was able to provide texts from Mears showing that Mears wanted to fight. [VICTIM #1] showed text messages where she told Mears that she was not going to fight.
After the conservation via text, later on during the night, [VICTIM #1] stated that Mears called [VICTIM #1], and stated that she was done with the boyfriend after he left her stranded downtown. [VICTIM #1] stated she felt bad for Mears and agreed to attend to the party in an attempt to fix their friendship. [VICTIM #1] stated that she arrived at [600 BLOCK] Highway 49, where Mears met her at the end of driveway. [VICTIM #1] stated that Mears got into the passenger seat and gave her a hug as if everything was okay. [VICTIM #1] stated that she and Mears were seen by other individuals at the party, where they both got along and hung out together.
[VICTIM #1] stated that she attempted to leave the party approximately one hour later. [VICTIM #1] stated that she was stopped by Mears. [VICTIM #1] stated that Mears began attacking her by pulling her hair, punching her repeatedly in the face, and dragging her to the ground. [VICTIM #1] was able to show video footage of the incident. I was able to identify Destiny Mears in the video as the offender. The video footage was uploaded via axon capture as well as photos of [VICTIM #1]’s injuries.
One warrant has been secured for battery on Mears.
