I was dispatched to [100 BLOCK] Horace Veal Road in reference to a physical altercation that already occurred, but both parties were still on scene.

I arrived on scene and noticed the victim, [VICTIM #1] standing at the end of the driveway of [100 BLOCK] Horace Veal Road. I spoke with [VICTIM #1], who stated he and his boyfriend, Elijah Hatchett had gotten into a physical altercation about a cellular telephone. [VICTIM #1] explained he currently had a cellular telephone that was provided to him by [WITNESS #1]. [WITNESS #1] is the adopted mother of Hatchett.

[VICTIM #1] stated he was sitting on the front porch, and Hatchett walked up to him and attacked him in an attempt get the telephone. [VICTIM #1] stated Hatchett grabbed him around the throat during the altercation, causing him to struggle to catch his breath. [VICTIM #1] stated Hatchett also bit him in the stomach during the altercation, which caused a visible wound. [VICTIM #1] also had visible signs of injury to his neck area. [VICTIM #1] stated that he felt in fear of his life when Hatchett had his hands on his throat, because he was struggling to catch his breath. Photos of the injuries were taken by Deputy Smith. [VICTIM #1] stated he had been living with Hatchett for approximately a month at [100 BLOCK] Horace Veal Road.

After speaking with [VICTIM #1], I spoke with Hatchett near the front porch of the residence. I asked Hatchett about the events that had taken place. Hatchett stated he “jumped him” because he was upset about the telephone. Hatchett was placed under arrest and placed in the rear seat of my patrol vehicle.

[WITNESS #1] was standing on the front porch while I spoke with Hatchett. After Hatchett was taken into custody, I spoke with her in an attempt to gather any more additional information on the altercation. [WITNESS #1] explained she saw Hatchett walk up to [VICTIM #1] and a fight start. [WITNESS #1] also confirmed that the altercation was about the cellular telephone.

Hatchett was transported to the jail and turned over to jail staff without incident. A warrant for the charge of aggravated assault was sworn for Elijah Hatchett.
