I was dispatched to [200 BLOCK] Coopers Road in reference to a domestic incident.

Upon arrival, I made contact with [VICTIM #1]. [VICTIM #1] stated his live-in girlfriend, Morgan Nelson, “lost it.” [VICTIM #1] stated Nelson had been waking him up all night due to her being intoxicated. [VICTIM #1] stated Nelson continuously attempted throughout the night to start an altercation with him. [VICTIM #1] later stated Nelson also pointed a firearm at him. [VICTIM #1] provided video of Nelson pointing a pistol at him. I was able to observe Nelson pick the pistol up and point it at [VICTIM #1]. While the pistol was pointed at [VICTIM #1], Nelson closed one eye as if she were aiming. [VICTIM #1] stated he took the gun from Nelson, removed the magazine, and cleared the chamber. [VICTIM #1] stated he put the pistol down and began getting ready for work in an attempt to remove himself from the incident.

After viewing the video, I briefly made contact with Nelson. I detected the odor of an alcoholic beverage emitting from her breath and person. I also noticed Nelson’s speech was slow and slurred. I asked Nelson where the gun was located. Nelson repeatedly said, “I don’t know where the clip is.” Nelson walked inside with Deputy Goss, who located a small handbag containing an olive-green Smith & Wesson .380 with two spare magazines. Nelson was placed in handcuffs and secured in the rear of my patrol vehicle.

Nelson was transported to the jail, where she was released to jail staff without incident.

A warrant for Aggravated Assault – Family Violence was sworn out against Nelson. The firearm from the incident was secured for evidence and placed into locker 006 with a completed evidence/property form. At this time, [VICTIM #1] has yet to email the video footage to me.
