I was dispatched to 2809 North Columbia Street in reference to an irate female inside the store.
Upon arrival, I made contact with an employee who stated the female was upstairs in the employee office area attempting to fight staff. As I entered the store, I could hear yelling coming from the upstairs area. I went upstairs and made contact with the assistant store manager, [WITNESS #1], who stated the female had just exited the store and was walking in parking lot. Deputy Schneider arrived on scene to assist. Deputy Schneider and I made contact with the female, identified as Tanza Strange, and her daughter, [WITNESS #2]. Strange was still visibly upset and yelling to someone on the phone.
I spoke with [WITNESS #2], who stated she became upset after an altercation between her and her first-line supervisor, [WITNESS #3]. [WITNESS #2] stated she called her mother, Tanza Strange, because she was upset and wanted to vent. [WITNESS #2] stated Strange became angry and arrived at Kroger a short time later. [WITNESS #2] stated she did not ask her mother to come to the store or get involved in the situation. I advised Strange she was being detained until I could speak with all parties involved.
I returned to the store to speak with [WITNESS #1] and other witnesses. [WITNESS #1] stated he and [WITNESS #3] were in the manager’s office speaking with [WITNESS #2] when her mother, Tanza Strange, arrived. [WITNESS #1] stated Strange entered the employee-only area yelling and screaming, and began beating on the closed office door. [WITNESS #1] state after several minutes of Strange striking the door, he exited the office to speak with her. [WITNESS #1] stated Strange refused to deescalate, and he informed her she needed to leave the store.
[WITNESS #1] stated [WITNESS #2] became upset and began raising her voice at [WITNESS #3]. [WITNESS #1] stated he instructed [WITNESS #2] to remove her name tag, place it on the desk, and go home for the remainder of the day. [WITNESS #1] stated Strange picked up the name tag and threw it at [WITNESS #3] as she walked away, while continuing to scream and curse. The entire altercation was witnessed by another assistant manager, [WITNESS #4], who was in the office area.
[WITNESS #1] advised there was security footage of the incident, but he was unable to access it at the time.
I returned to Strange and advised her she was under arrest for disorderly conduct and transported her to the jail without incident. A warrant was sworn against Tanza Strange for the offense of Disorderly Conduct.
