On October 14th, 2025 at approximately 22:18, Deputy Dempsey was on duty with the Banks County Sheriff’s Office when he and other deputies responded to a Domestic Dispute in progress at the provided location involving a firearm.

Dispatch advised that the caller, [REDACTED BY AGENCY], had called in stating that her husband, Bruce Kennedy, had pulled a gun on her brother, [REDACTED BY AGENCY]. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] then stated the gun was taken from Bruce and that he and [REDACTED BY AGENCY] were physically fighting.

Deputies arrived on scene and after separating all subjects on scene, determined that the initial details of the call were not accurate and that no crime had occurred. All individuals were separated. We determined that Bruce had gotten heavily intoxicated and he and [REDACTED BY AGENCY] were in a verbal argument that [REDACTED BY AGENCY], who lives in the basement in his own separate residence of the property, had heard. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] then entered Bruce and [REDACTED BY AGENCY] residence to stop the fight when Bruce picked up his gun.

All subjects on scene stated nearly the same that Bruce never threatened use of the gun nor raised it in anyone’s direction. All parties then stated after the gun was taken from Bruce and given to [REDACTED BY AGENCY], Bruce and [REDACTED BY AGENCY] began a verbal argument that never became physical. All subjects were separated for the night due to no crime occurring.

At approximately 23:15, Deputies were dispatched back to the residence for a second domestic dispute. The caller, [REDACTED BY AGENCY], called into dispatch stating that she was on the phone with [REDACTED BY AGENCY] as soon as deputies left. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] stated that Bruce had gotten the gun again and pointed it at [REDACTED BY AGENCY].

Deputy Franks and I arrived on scene for the second time and made contact with [REDACTED BY AGENCY] in the living room. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] stated that after deputies had left, she was in the bedroom with her children when Bruce came in and took the gun back from her and loaded it, then exited the room. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] stated that a few minutes later, she heard a thud noise from outside the room and went to check on Bruce. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] stated that she located Bruce on the floor in the kitchen.

[REDACTED BY AGENCY] stated she went to help Bruce stand up due to being severely intoxicated. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] stated that he stood up and pulled the handgun, a black and silver in color Smith and Wesson 9mm handgun S/N; FCB6406, and began to wave it around. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] stated that Bruce had pointed the gun straight at her with his finger on the trigger to the point she stated she was afraid he was going to shoot her.

[REDACTED BY AGENCY] stated that while pleading with Bruce to put the gun down, he was on the phone with his cousin who was also telling him the same. Bruce eventually put the gun down and [REDACTED BY AGENCY] was able to get the gun away from Bruce once again and hid it inside the residence until Deputies arrived.

I asked [REDACTED BY AGENCY] where Bruce was to which she told me he was outside the back of the residence. I went through he house and located Bruce sitting behind the house. I asked Bruce what had happened but due to his severely intoxicated state, was unable to give any rational statement. I advised Bruce he was under arrest and assisted him to Corporal O’Connell’s patrol car. Bruce was placed into handcuffs, checked for fit and double locked, and into the rear passenger side of Corporal O’Connell’s patrol car. Bruce was then transported to the Banks County Jail. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] called into dispatch stated she wished to speak with a deputy about what she had heard on the phone and Deputy Franks responded while I went back to speak to [REDACTED BY AGENCY].

[REDACTED BY AGENCY] provided me the gun that Bruce had pointed at her which I seized as evidence. The gun had a loaded magazine with 8 live 9mm rounds. I advised available options to [REDACTED BY AGENCY] and explained the process to come with Bruce being arrested on a family violence offense.

Deputy Franks spoke with [REDACTED BY AGENCY] who stated while on the phone with [REDACTED BY AGENCY] during the event, she heard Bruce tell [REDACTED BY AGENCY] that he was going to kill them all. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] was unable to confirm if Bruce made the statement during the incident so no charge was taken at this time for Threats.

Due to Bruce pointing a loaded firearm directly at [REDACTED BY AGENCY] with his finger on the trigger causing her to believe she was going to be killed, a warrant for Aggravated Assault FVA and Possession of a Firearm during the Commission of a Felony to be obtained.
