January 28, 2026, I, Deputy Brito, responded to the area of Kennedy-Sells Rd NW and Pinebrooke Rd, regarding a hit and run. Upon arrival, I spoke with [VICTIM #1], the complainant. According to [VICTIM #1], while in the area of Carl-Bethlehem Rd and Bill Rutledge Rd, a gray Ford F-250 side-swiped his vehicle, breaking his driver-side mirror. He was able to get behind the vehicle and obtain its tag number (GA Tag [REDACTED]).

I had dispatch issue a BOLO for the vehicle and was advised a short time later, the Auburn Police Department had the vehicle stopped at 44 Auburn Run Ln.

I responded to the scene where I made contact with the driver of the gray F-250 and identified him as Alberto Hernandez Gonzalez by his Illinois Driver’s license.

He advised that he was swerving to miss something in the road and hit the other vehicle’s mirror. He advised that he came to this location to speak with the other driver. I informed him I had already spoken to the other driver, who was no longer following him, and that he had not attempted to make contact with the driver.

While on scene, I could smell the odor of alcohol in the area. Deputy Bond was able to locate on the passenger side, near the door, was a open can of Modelo beer which was leaking out onto the ground. Hernandez Gonzalez stated that he had just recently opened the beer and had drunk a small amount of it. We were able to see that a large amount of the can was on the ground. While speaking with Hernandez Gonzalez, I did not see any sign of impairment coming from his person.

Hernandez Gonzalez was then placed under arrest for Failure to Maintain Lane and Hit and Run. He was handcuffed behind her back, the handcuffs were checked for proper fit and double locked. He was then walked to my patrol vehicle, where the back seat was checked before placing him inside.

Hernandez Gonzalez was then transported to the Barrow County Detention Center and turned over to jail staff.

Hernandez Gonzalez was issued the following citations: #13949 for OCGA 40-6-270(a) for Hit and Run #139450 for OCGA 40-6-48 Failure to Maintain Lane.

The backseat of my patrol vehicle was searched before and after transport.

Hammonds wrecker service arrived on scene and loaded the vehicle. Once he was finished, the owner of the vehicle arrived, and he turned the vehicle over after receiving payment.
