[NARRATIVE #1]
On November 24, 2021 at 1743 hours I was dispatched to [700 BLOCK] Fletcher Drive in reference to a dispute that involved a firearm being discharged at someone. I responded to the scene “code 3”. My investigation led to the arrest of Alexandria Gillmer for her actions after I arrived on scene. I also developed probable cause for Aggravated assault on an unknown black male who fled the scene prior to my arrival.
As we responded to the area, dispatch advised they received numerous calls from people involved and witnesses inside the subdivision. They also advised the shooter had fled the area in a black Ford Fusion. Sergeant Akins and I arrived and stopped at the first house with people in the yard. A black female, who was later identified as [VICTIM #1], approached us, and screamed for us to go check on her sister. I asked her where and she pointed a few houses down and told us it was the yard with lights on. About three houses down there was a yard with a light near the road pointing back toward the house. We got in our vehicles and went to this residence.
When we arrived at this second residence, I put my patrol car’s spotlight on a female sitting in a blue Honda Civic. As we approached, she got out of the vehicle. When we got close to her, a second female, later identified as Alexandria Gillmer, came out the front door of the residence. I heard her say “kill this bit*h” as she walked toward the blue Honda and the female who had now gotten out of it. I then looked and saw she was carrying a kitchen knife in her right hand. I quickly informed Sergeant Akins of this because he was reaching out to grab Alexandria to prevent her from attacking the other female. Sergeant Akins quickly pushed Alexandria away and drew his taser. As he did, Alexandria threw the knife on the ground. Alexandria was ordered to the ground and after momentarily failing to comply, she did so and was placed in handcuffs behind her back.
As we were handcuffing Alexandria, she began screaming about her sister needing to be checked on. I asked her where and she kept screaming things I could not understand. The female who had been in the Honda told us the sister in question was coming toward us. I looked and saw it was [VICTIM #1], who we had already confirmed was fine. [VICTIM #1] was running toward us yelling about the fact that we had handcuffed Alexandria. We tried to talk to them, but they kept yelling. To gain some kind of control over the situation, [VICTIM #1] was also handcuffed, and they were both placed in separate patrol vehicles.
Once Alexandria and [VICTIM #1] were removed from the scene, I began speaking to the female who had been sitting in the Honda. She was identified as [VICTIM #2]. I confirmed with her that no one had been shot and then asked her to tell me what happened. She stated a male she only knew as “Uncle Polo” came to the residence with her to protect her and ended up shooting at [VICTIM #1]. She stated Alexandria and [VICTIM #1] had been threatening her all day, so she asked “Uncle Polo” to come over to keep her safe. She claimed she did not know he was in possession of a handgun until he pulled it out and began chasing [VICTIM #1]. I asked [VICTIM #2] to explain in detail what led to the incident.
[VICTIM #2] explained Alexandria and [VICTIM #1] are cousins of her husband, [REDACTED]. Alexandria and [VICTIM #1] had recently moved here from Tennessee and were currently living with them. She stated earlier in the day she and [REDACTED] got into an argument while they were riding down the road. The argument started when [VICTIM #2] told [REDACTED] that Alexandria and [VICTIM #1] need to contribute more if they are going to live with them. During the argument, [REDACTED] called Alexandria and [VICTIM #1] on the phone and told them [VICTIM #2] and spit on him and struck him. He then told Alexandria and [VICTIM #1] to “jump” [VICTIM #2] if he ended up going to jail. When they got to the residence, [REDACTED] went inside with [VICTIM #2]’s two juvenile children. [VICTIM #2] stayed in the car because Alexandria and [VICTIM #1] were threatening her from an upstairs window that overlooks the driveway. [VICTIM #2] stated she sat in the driveway for approximately an hour, too scared to go inside. She finally decided to call a family friend, “Uncle Polo”, to come to the residence to prevent Alexandria and [VICTIM #1] from attacking her.
[VICTIM #2] stated she went and met “Uncle Polo” at the front of the subdivision. He followed her to the residence and parked in the roadway. He walked up the driveway behind [VICTIM #2] and they both walked toward the front door. [VICTIM #2] then heard either Alexandria or [VICTIM #1] yell, “He’s got a gun” and she saw “Uncle Polo” was in possession of a handgun. She and “Uncle Polo” then entered the residence and “Uncle Polo” started up the stairs. [VICTIM #2] stated was trying to get her juvenile kids out of the residence and when she succeeded in doing that, she also walked back out of the residence. She then saw “Uncle Polo” come out the front door. At the same time, she observed [VICTIM #1] fall from the second story window into a bush. [VICTIM #1] got up and ran toward the back of the house and “Uncle Polo” chased her. When “Uncle Polo” got to the corner of the house he raised the handgun and fired one shot. [VICTIM #2] called 911 and asked “Uncle Polo” if he had killed [VICTIM #1]. She stated “Uncle Polo” told her he did not shoot [VICTIM #1] and then ran to his car and fled the area. She stated the car was a black Ford Fusion hybrid. She also stated “Uncle Polo” was wearing a navy blue shirt and red, white, and blue mask on his face. She could not provide any information other than what I have included in the “Subjects” tab.
Due to the severity of charges, I contacted Investigator Smith. He advised Investigation would not respond unless we felt like they were specifically needed. I informed him I did not believe they were.
I then spoke to [VICTIM #2]’s mother, [WITNESS #1]. [WITNESS #1] stated she had been at the residence just prior to the incident. She stated she only came to get her dog because she knew a situation was brewing between [VICTIM #2], Alexandria, and [VICTIM #1]. She also stated Alexandria and [VICTIM #1] had cursed at and threatened her in the short time she was there.
I next spoke to Alexandria. She was handcuffed in the rear seat of a patrol vehicle. She was handcuffed due to her actions up our arrival. I asked her to tell us about what happened prior to our arrival. She told me the exact same story as [VICTIM #2], including the whole situation being started by a phone called [REDACTED] made to her and [VICTIM #1]. She added that when “Uncle Polo” pulled out the handgun, [VICTIM #2] made statements about him coming in to harm them. Alexandria also stated after [VICTIM #1] jumped out the window and she heard a gunshot she hid in the closet. She then locked all the doors in the house. She stated she then decided to arm herself with a knife and she walked outside with the intention of killing [VICTIM #2]. At this time, I informed her she was under arrest for Aggravated Assault and Terroristic Threats, both under Georgia’s family violence statue. She was turned over to another deputy for transport.
I spoke to [VICTIM #1] and confirmed what both [VICTIM #2] and Alexandria had told me. She stated she jumped out of the window and just ran to get away from “Uncle Polo”. She stated she did hear him fire one shot at her. I did not have any further reason to detain her so she was taken out of handcuffs and released from the scene.
I next spoke to [WITNESS #2] and her juvenile daughter. They live across the street and witnessed the incident. [WITNESS #2] had been one of the 911 callers. They confirmed all 4 females were arguing in the yard and then [VICTIM #2] left in the blue Honda. When she returned she had “Uncle Polo” with her in his own vehicle. They stated “Uncle Polo” got out with the gun and then chased [VICTIM #1] after she fell from the window. They both provided written statements.
I collected the knife Alexandria had been armed with when we arrived at the residence. It was placed in a secure evidence locker.
I will be taking warrants against Alexandria Gillmer for Aggravated Assault (FV) and Terroristic Threats (FV) for charging [VICTIM #2] while armed with a kitchen knife and making a statement about killing her. No charges will be taken against “Uncle Polo” at this time due to his true identity not being known.
Audio and video are available from WatchGuard, car 2373.
[NARRATIVE #2]
On November 24, 2021, at 2105 hours, I spoke to an ACCPD Officer Ellison, in reference to identifying a suspect from a domestic dispute earlier in the day. The Officer idvised they have two people in their database with the nickname “Pollo”.
He advised they are Desmond Hawes and Derrick Franklin.
I have added them to this report.
[NARRATIVE #3]
On November 25 I went back to the subdivision in an attempt to find a residence with video surveillance of the car. I found multiple residences with cameras but none of them captured any details of the car. I did see that [VICTIM #2] went to the front of the subdivison at approximately 1738 hours and met “Uncle Polo.” They returned to the residence at 1740 hours and “Uncle Polo” sped off at 1743 hours. It is believed she met him in the parking lot of the pool area. This building has numerous cameras but I could not find anyone to access them. I was given the following phone number to contact for the HOA: [PHONE NUMBER REDACTED]. I will also Email Lt. Norris about the school traffic cameras on Haymon Morris Road.
[NARRATIVE #4]
On November 30, 2021 at 0944 hours Lieutenant Norris emailed me photographs taken by the school cameras on Haymon Morris Road. One of the photographs was of a black Ford Fusion bearing Georgia tag [REDACTED]. The photograph was taken at 1731 hours. The fusion was west of Kendall Park subdivision and traveling west. It is very possible this is the suspect vehicle because [VICTIM #2] told me “Uncle Polo” could not find her subdivision, so she had to go meet him. The Fusion in the photograph returned to Stephen Bruner. Stephen’s Clarkston address fits [VICTIM #2]’s statement about “Uncle Polo” living somewhere in the Atlanta area. I checked the Georgia Department of Corrections website and found Stephen has numerous violent felony convictions including kidnapping, armed robbery, and aggravated assault. He has served two separate 8 year sentences in Georgia prisons. I will upload the photograph to this supplemental.
