On 04/26/2026, at 1028 hrs, I responded code 1 (non-emergency) to [2300 BLOCK] Rat Kinney Rd, Bethlehem Ga 30666 in reference to a domestic dispute, but both parties were separated.

Upon arrival, a male, later identified as Bendarius Griffith, was found lying on the ground, appearing very distressed and upset. He was crying and speaking on the phone with his mother. Deputy McCurry remained with him while I went to knock on the door to reach the second party.

Upon reaching the door, I encountered [VICTIM #1]. She explained that Bendarius was upset because she did not retrieve the vehicle that had been towed. [VICTIM #1] mentioned that he had gone out the previous night and did not come home, leading to her own vehicle being towed. She was looking for money to pay to retrieve the vehicle since she handles all the expenses. [VICTIM #1] showed me a message where her father stated he was getting the vehicle out on Monday. This situation prompted a verbal argument, but [VICTIM #1] emphasized that nothing became physical.

After this, I stepped outside to speak with Deputy McCurry. He informed me that the male was upset because Bendarius had purchased the vehicle from [VICTIM #1], who was hiding it from him, even though she had the title. Bendarius expressed that he no longer cared about the car; he just wanted his money back. After our conversation, Bendarius confirmed these claims. He appeared to be experiencing an episode related to a mental illness and mentioned that he had not taken his medication for several days.

Since no crime was ultimately committed and neither party wished to press charges, as the argument was purely verbal, Bendarius was advised to cool down or leave the residence for a while to calm himself. Bendarius agreed and attempted to arrange for a ride. However, he continued to grow agitated, frequently getting up and down and refusing to calm down. He was also yelling, which drew the attention of neighbors who came out of their homes. Bendarius even made threats to harm [VICTIM #1], saying” I am going to beat your a*s,” putting her in fear of harm. Despite this, we continued to encourage Bendarius to leave the residence, even if it meant walking. He chose not to do so.

After stepping back into my patrol car to retrieve case cards, I observed Bendarius approaching the deputies who were speaking with [VICTIM #1]. He was waving his arms and shouting at them. Ultimately, Bendarius was placed under arrest, handcuffed with his hands behind his back, and the cuffs were checked for fit and double-locked. He was then placed in the back of my patrol car. Deputy McCurry explained the family violence plan to [VICTIM #1] while I transported Bendarius to the Barrow County Detention Center. Bendarius was handed over to jail staff upon arrival, and the patrol car was checked both before and after for any contributions.

Bendarius Griffith will be charged with the following.

OCGA 16-11-39 Disorderly Conduct for acting in a disorderly manner while being in the front yard, screaming, and cussing, causing people to leave their residence to see what is going on, and stating threats towards his girlfriend.

OCGA 16-11-37(b) Terroristic Threats for stating he was going to beat his girlfriend’s a*s, putting her in fear.

[End of Narrative]
