On Wednesday, July 24th, 2025, at approximately 2142 hours, I Ofc. Perry #149 was dispatched to the area of Maynard Street, Winder, Ga 30680 in reference to a suspicious activity call. I traveled to the area listed above, CODE 1, in my marked patrol vehicle #396. I got out with a white female in black shorts and a black shirt who matched the description given to us.

Upon initial contact with Ms. Cherokee Towe, I detected a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage emanating from her person. Cherokee was also swaying back and forth, and her words were incredibly slurred. Cherokee said that her parents had come to pick her up from a party. Cherokee also stated that she had just been “jumped,” but there were no marks or bruises on her person. Cherokee was incredibly angry and distraught.

Throughout the entire conversation with Cherokee, she continued to curse, yell, and act boisterously in the street. Neighbors began to come outside their residences to see what was happening. Cherokee was advised to get inside her parents’ vehicle and let them take her home. Cherokee threw up two middle fingers and told us, “F*ck you.” Cherokee’s parents were able to convince her to go to their vehicle, but just as she began walking to the car, she began to refuse and wanted to walk to the gas station to use the bathroom.

Cherokee was advised that she would not be allowed to walk, but her parents could stop her there on the way home. Cherokee began walking towards her parents’ car, but when she got to the back seat, she would not get in. Cherokee became furious again and punched her parents’ back window. We then approached Cherokee and placed her in properly fitted double-locked handcuffs. As we were putting Cherokee in handcuffs, she began to pull away from us, resisting the arrest.

Cherokee was placed in the back seat of my patrol vehicle, and a lap and shoulder belt was secured across her person. At this time, Cherokee’s identification card was handed to me, and we discovered that Cherokee was only nineteen years old. Cherokee was then transported to 652 Barrow Park Drive, Winder, Ga 30680 (Barrow County Detention Center).

Upon arrival, custody of Cherokee and her belongings was relinquished from me to the Barrow County Intake Deputies. I completed all intake forms, and I left six citations with Cherokee’s belongings as well: WC91521 Disturbing the Peace, WC91523 Disorderly Conduct, WC91524 Public Drunk, WC91525 Obstruction, WC91526 Cursing at an officer, and WC91527 Underage consumption of alcohol. I then returned to service with no further issues.

The backseat of my patrol vehicle was cleared before and after Cherokee was placed inside and taken out.
