On 03/19/2026 at 2338 hrs, I responded code 1 (non-emergency lights and sirens) to 925 Loganville Hwy, Bethlehem Ga, common name Exxon Carl- Bethlehem, in reference to a domestic disturbance.

Upon arrival, I came in contact with the complainant, [VICTIM #1], wanting to make a report about a domestic dispute she had with her boyfriend, later identified as Clyde Abbott. While I was speaking with [VICTIM #1], Deputies McCoy and Thurman went to search for Clyde. Clyde was found behind the Zaxby’s, attempting to hide behind the business dumpsters. Deputies detained Clyde and escorted him back to the gas station. Deputy Thurman informed me that Clyde was patted down prior to being escorted back to the gas station by Deputy McCoy without incident.

[VICTIM #1] stated that she was driving down Loganville Hwy to drop Clyde off at his home, and that is when they had gotten into a verbal argument. I asked [VICTIM #1] why, and she stated that it was personal reasons. When I asked her to explain, she declined. I asked [VICTIM #1] if her and Clyde ever lived toghther and she stated no they were just dating and have never lived together. Then [VICTIM #1] stated she was driving, Clyde lifted her emergency brake handle, and stuck [VICTIM #1] with an open palm in her mouth twice, causing her to bleed because her lip had been busted on the inside of her mouth. Also, he wrapped his hands around her neck, impeding her breath for a short amount of time. [VICTIM #1] then said she pulled into the Exxon, ran inside to ask for help, and called the police. I took pictures of [VICTIM #1]’s mouth, where you can see fresh blood and the redness around her neck. Due to her alleging strangluation, dispatch was asked to have a med unit en-route to our location.

Later, I stepped outside to speak with Clyde, who seemed visually intoxicated. While speaking with him, I allowed Clyde to exit the patrol vehicle to read him Miranda Warnings. I explained to him that I was about to read him his Miranda Rights, and he stated he understood. After reading Miranda Rights, Clyde asked me if I was on his side or hers, and kept trying to decide whether he should answer. I asked him multiple times. I just needed a yes or no. Clyde agreed, and I asked him what happened. He stated that he found out [VICTIM #1] was talking to other guys on Facebook and that they were broken up. I asked Clyde if any physical altercation had occurred after that, and he said no. I asked Clyde what he did, then he said he was just trying to leave, and I asked him why he was hiding behind the dumpsters, but he could not give me an answer. Clyde said they were just arguing and that was it.

While speaking with Clyde, [VICTIM #1] was assessed by Med Unit 3, who had arrived on scene to assess her injuries. [VICTIM #1] declined a transport to the hospital after being assessed by medical personnel.

Based on the evidence, I had probable cause for an arrest on Clyde due to the visible injuries on [VICTIM #1].

Clyde was placed back in the vehicle and secured with a seatbelt; however, he unbuckled it approximately three times and attempted to move his handcuffs to the front around two times. Dispatch was informed of this for documentation purposes. Clyde was secured in the back seat of the patrol vehicle using two seatbelts to prevent him from unbuckling himself before our departure.

Deputy Thurman and I transported Clyde to the Barrow County Detention Center without any further incidents. Upon arrival, he was handed over to the detention staff without issues. Before leaving the facility, I thoroughly checked the back seat of the patrol vehicle for any weapons or drugs, but nothing was found.

I have obtianed the following warrants for Clyde Abbot:

OCGA 16-5-20 Simple Assault for putting [VICTIM #1] in fear of her life when pulling the emergency brake

OCGA 16-5-23.1 Battery for hitting [VICTIM #1] twice with and mouth and leaving visible bruises and blood

OCGA 16-5-21 Aggravated Assault for placing his hand around [VICTIM #1] neck and suffocating her for a period of time

OCGA 16-10-24 Hindering a peace officer by hiding behind dumpsters and bushes, lying down to evade detection by deputies searching for him.

[End of Narrative]
