On June 28, 2028, at approximately 0720 I responded to 703 Kilcrease Rd in reference to a Hit and Run that occurred at Patrick Mill and University Pkwy.

Upon arriving on scene I met with an individual who was identified as [VICTIM #1]. [VICTIM #1] stated that while she was sitting on Patrick Mill Rd waiting to turn west onto University Pkwy a Gray car rear-ended her and then left. She stated that it was a young possibly Hispanic Male with lots of hair driving. She said that the front end of the car would have damage and that the License plate number was [REDACTED].

I ran that License plate number through Flock and GCIC. When I ran it through Flock that plate number hit just after the accident in the direction that [VICTIM #1] said the car went. After running it through GCIC there was a phone number attached to the registered owner of the vehicle. I made contact with the registered owner who was Identified as [REDACTED]. Ms. [REDACTED] stated that she was aware of the accident that occurred and that her son was driving the car at that time.

She stated that her son, Cruz Gonzalez, was at the house and told her that the vehicle in front of him backed up into him. I explained to Ms. [REDACTED] that I would be taking warrants on Cruz for Hit and Run but it would make it easier on them if he just came and meet me somewhere. She stated that she would bring him to meet me at 703 Kilcrease Rd.

A short while later they arrived at 703 Kilcrease Rd. I spoke with Cruz who stated that he was texting on his phone and then rear-ended the car in front of him. He said that he then did not know what to do and was nervous so he left the scene and went home. I explained to Cruz that he would be under arrest due to leaving the scene of an accident. I placed Cruz in a pair of double-locked handcuffs and placed him in the back seat of my patrol car. Cruz was transported to the Barrow County Detention Center and turned over to Jail staff without issue. The back seat of my patrol car was checked for contraband before and after transporting Cruz with no contraband was found.

The Following Warrant was taken on Cruz

OCGA 40-6-270(a) Hit and Run due to Cruz Gonzales rear-ending another vehicle at the intersection of Patrick Mill Rd and University Pkwy then leaving the scene of the accident and not returning.
