[NARRATIVE #1 on February 09, 2026]
On February 9, 2026, at approximately 1950 hours while on patrol, I, Officer Smith, observed a red Honda Odyssey traveling westbound on Peters St. When I entered the displayed GA plate number [REDACTED] into GCIC, I was alerted that the registered owner of the vehicle license was suspended. I then activated my emergency equipment and initiated a traffic stop in my marked patrol vehicle.
Once the vehicle came to a stop, I got out of my patrol vehicle. While I was attempting to approach the driver’s side of the vehicle, the passenger got out of the vehicle and fled the scene on foot. I notified dispatch, requested more units, upholstered my gun at a high and ready position, and gave verbal commands for the driver identified as [REDACTED] to exit the vehicle. [REDACTED] complied with all verbal lawful commands, and I handcuffed him behind his back, double locked, and checked for proper fitting. Two sets of handcuffs were used.
While detaining [REDACTED], I asked him who the passenger in the vehicle that fled was, and he stated “Bubba”. Due to recent interaction, I was able to identify the subject as Derrick Mayweather. [REDACTED] then confirmed it was Derrick Mayweather, his cousin. [REDACTED] stated he saw Derrick walking and gave him a ride before the traffic stop. Barrow County deputies arrived on scene, as well as Lawrenceville K9 operators, to conduct a track and determine Derrick’s location.
Once the Canine Mahx was deployed, it reached [600 BLOCK] Peters St. Derrick, and he was then given multiple lawful commands to exit the abandoned residence with his hands up. Eventually, Derrick came to the front door and spotted the canine, and quickly turned around while the dog was deployed. While doing so, Derrick hit the canine in the head with the door. Law enforcement then made entry into [600 BLOCK] Peters St, where Derrick was, and Canine Mahx apprehended Derrick, biting him in the arm. Derrick continued to resist arrest and flee, charging at Officers while dragging Canine Mahx, and when law enforcement attempted to handcuff Derrick, he actively resisted, pushing law enforcement using physical force.
Derrick was eventually secured in handcuffs, escorted back to a patrol vehicle, and EMS arrived on scene to treat Derrick’s wounds sustained from the dog bite. A search incident to arrest was conducted, and Derrick was transported to Northeast Georgia Medical Center by on-scene EMS, and I followed behind them per their request. Derrick’s injured arm was handcuffed to the gurney, and his left arm was left free Per EMS request.
All parties arrived at the hospital. Derrick was further treated for his dog bite wound and received stitches and medication. He was then released back into my custody. I handcuffed Derrick in the front of his body due to injury, double-locked, and checked for proper fitting. Derrick and I arrived at Barrow County Detention Center, and he was released into their custody for booking and processing with no further incident. [REDACTED] was released on the scene after he provided a limited-term permit. Derrick was arrested for his outstanding warrant for probation violation, Felony obstruction, and harming a Public Safety Animal.

[NARRATIVE #2 on February 09, 2026]
On February 9, 2026, at approximately 2009 hours, I was dispatched to the area of Peters Street and Ventura Street in Statham, GA in reference to an agency assist.
Per call notes, a subject fled from a traffic stop on foot. Upon my arrival at approximately 2025 hours, I spoke with Deputies on scene who advised that the suspect (Mr. Derrick Mayweather) fled from the passenger seat of a traffic stop. Deputies advised Mr. Mayweather possessed warrants out of the Barrow County Sheriff’s Office. A further NCIC inquiry later revealed Mr. Mayweather possessed a warrant out of the Barrow County Sheriff’s Office for felony probation violation (Warrant Number: 20CR0406W).
Upon arrival, I deployed my certified dual-purpose canine partner Mahx. Canine Mahx immediately began actively tracking. Mahx continued tracking into a backyard located at [500 BLOCK] Peters Street. Mahx continued actively tracking to the back yard located at [600 BLOCK] Peters Street. This residence appeared to be abandoned. Canine Mahx then worked to an open crawl space where he located a black mask at the entrance of the crawl space. At this time, I began giving canine announcements. After multiple canine announcements, I sent canine Mahx into the crawl space where he then came back out. I then heard a voice from inside of the residence. I continued providing verbal announcements for the subject to exit the residence.
After a short period, Corporal K. Wallace advised that a male exited the front door. A deputy at the front of the residence advised Mr. Mayweather to exit the home. The area of the front door was a screened in elevated porch and I was able to see Mr. Mayweather from my perspective. I began giving a plethora of canine commands in which Mr. Mayweather began to comply. However, Mr. Mayweather very quickly turned around and went back into the residence. As Mr. Mayweather turned around, I sent my canine partner Mahx to apprehend Mr. Mayweather. Due to Mr. Mayweather not complying with verbal commands, resisting by flight, and the unknown of what was on the other side of the door, I provided Canine Mahx his bite command.
As canine Mahx got to the threshold of the door, Mr. Mayweather closed the door on canine Mahx’s head, wedging his head between the door and frame of the house. I forced the door open and Canine Mahx entered the home where Mr. Mayweather was still attempting to close the door. Canine Mahx then apprehended Mr. Mayweather by biting his right arm. Mr. Mayweather then forced his way back out of the residence, running into Corporal Wallace and I. Mr. Mayweather continued to actively resist by forcing his way through officers along with dragging canine Mahx with him. During this time, I delivered closed fist strikes to Mr. Mayweather’s facial area where he then began falling to the ground. Once Mr. Mayweathers left wrist was controlled and placed into a handcuff. I removed canine Mahx from Mr. Mayweathers arm.
Medical personnel responded to the scene and Mr. Mayweather was turned over to Officer Smith of the City of Statham Police Department.
