On this date, December 31, 2025, at approximately 2007 hours, I responded Code 3 to Pleasant Hill Church Rd and Cooks Rd in reference to a Hit and Run.
Dispatch informed me that the caller witnessed the vehicle fail to stop at a stop sign at the intersection and hit a tree. Another caller stated they say a bald white man with a beard/goatee limping south away from the white 2005 Chevrolet Silverado with GA tag# [REDACTED]. It was stated he was running away, attempting to locate his dog. Last was seen behind the Stoney Creek Methodist Church by another bystander. Looking in the vehicle, I observed a badge with the Jeffery Taylor’s name on it, who was also the registered owner of the vehicle.
While I was on scene a white Toyota Corolla with GA tag # [REDACTED] pulled up next to me. The driver, [REDACTED], stated she was the mother of Jeffery Taylor and asked where he was. I told her that I did not know. She told me that a friend of hers saw the truck and called her. Later she was approached by Lt Guest and told him that she spoke to Jefferey and was attempting to locate a dog. [REDACTED] and other family members of hers were more concerned about locating the dog. I made an effort to ask [REDACTED] for an updated number for Jeffery and she yelled “He is fine!” and after some convincing game me a number.
Because he was seen limping and unable to make contact, we attempted to ping that phone number but it showed to be in Flint, Michigan. I called another phone number and was told it was the wrong number.
My probable cause for the charges below is multiple witnesses on scene matching Jeffery Taylor was identified as the driver of his white 2005 Chevrolet Silverado with GA tag# [REDACTED] that went through a stop sign at Cooks Rd and struck a tree before fleeing the scene of the accident and failing to return.
