On 12/23/2025 at 2027 hours I responded “code three” to the area of Melinda Drive and Hancock Bridge Road in reference to a possible accident with injuries.
Upon arrival, I located a Honda Civic that was traveling north on Melinda Drive, which is a gravel road, at a speed that is higher than what is safe to maintain control of a vehicle on a gravel roadway. The Honda had lost control, went into the other lane of travel, then left the roadway and struck a Jackson EMC power pole, causing the power to go out in the area.
I observed that the vehicle had multiple air bag deployments and that it was unoccupied. Multiple other Deputies began checking the area for the driver of the vehicle.
I ran the vehicle’s information through GCIC and observed that it returned to a Levi Jacks. Lt. Guest went to the address associated with Levi in attempts to locate him. He made contact with his girlfriend at the house who stated that Levi is the only person who drives the vehicle and she stated that he was supposed to be on the way home in the vehicle. It was explained to her that if he returned to the house, to call 911 and let us know.
Approximately 3 hours later, the girlfriend called and stated that he had returned home. Deputy Wright went to the residence and took Levi into custody. Levi was transported to the Barrow County Detention Center by Deputy Wright.
I met Deputy Wright at the Detention Center to issue Levi his citations. While speaking with Levi, a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage was observed coming from his breath.
