[NARRATIVE #1 on August 13, 2025]

August 13, 2025, at approximately 1245 hours, I, Deputy Brito, responded “Code 1” to the intersection of Patrick Mill Rd SW and University Pkwy EB regarding a possible hit-and-run.

Upon arrival, I spoke with [VICTIM #1], who stated he was attempting to turn right onto University Pkwy EB when he pulled forward slightly and stopped again due to traffic on University Pkwy. He was then hit from behind by V1, which then backed up and pulled off, leaving the scene. He was able to see that the vehicle was a black older model two-door Mercedes-Benz, and he was able to get the GA tag # [REDACTED] off the vehicle, and noticed a slim black male driving the vehicle.

I ran the license plate provided by [VICTIM #1] through GCIC, and it returned to a 2005 Audi registered to Michael Jones. I then ran the license plate through Flock and was able to find the plate on a black, older model two-door Mercedes-Benz.

I ran Michael Jones’ driver’s license through GCIC, and he returned suspended for Failure to appear with a suspension date of 09/02/2024.

I had the Athens Clarke County Police Department go to Michael Jones’ address on his license, where they located the Mercedes-Benz with damage on the front passenger side headlight and fender area. They were able to make contact with [REDACTED] at the residence. She advised that she had just woken up when officers arrived due to working at night. She told them that the vehicle belongs to her now ex-boyfriend, Michael Jones, and he is the only one who drives the Mercedes-Benz. [REDACTED] allowed Athens Clarke County Police Officers to walk through her residence, where they were not able to locate Jones. Officer Park was able to provide the VIN to the vehicle as [REDACTED], which returned to a 1999 Mercedes-Benz SL230.

I spoke with [REDACTED] via phone. She advised that the Mercedes-Benz belongs to her now ex-boyfriend, Michael Jones, who also lives at the residence, and that he purchased the vehicle approximately three weeks ago. She advised that he was the only person who drove the vehicle. She provided me with the current phone number for Jones.

I attempted to make contact with Michael Jones via phone. A male answered the phone, and when asked if he was Michael Jones, he hung up the phone. I attempted to call back three times with no answer.

I then made contact with Judge Stephens and provided testimony in this case. She signed the following warrants for Michael Jones 2025-2552MW for Hit and Run, 2025-2553 MW for Following Too Closely, 2025-2554MW Driving While License Suspended, and 2025-2555MW for Use of License Plate for the Purpose of Concealing or Misrepresenting Identity of Vehicle.

Judge Stephens provided the warrants to the jail for processing.
