On February 5, 2024 at 1252 hours I was dispatched to [100 BLOCK] Corey Court in reference to a hit and run that had just taken place on Atlanta Highway. I responded “code 1”.

I arrived and met with [VICTIM #1]. [VICTIM #1] stated prior to calling he had been involved in a motor vehicle accident on Atlanta Highway between Jackson Trail Road and Hardigree Drive. He explained he had been driving east in the left lane of three lane passing zone in this area. As the right lane was ending, a car tried to speed up to pass him, but the driver merged into the side of his vehicle when they were not able to complete the pass.

He stated he began pulling over, but when he realized the other driver was not stopping, he continued east behind the other vehicle. His wife took a picture of the vehicle and he was able to show it to me. It was a Toyota Camry bearing Georgia tag [REDACTED]. I observed damage to the passenger side of [VICTIM #1]’s truck, a Ram 1500 bearing Georgia tag [REDACTED].

[VICTIM #1] could not provide any description of the driver of the Camry.

I ran the tag on the Camry and saw the registered owner, [REDACTED], lived in Bogart not far outside Barrow County. I went to his address and located the Camry outside the residence. I observed damage to the driver’s side that fit where the damage would have been based on the story given by [VICTIM #1]. I knocked on the door and a female answered. I introduced myself to the female and informed her I was investigating a traffic accident that occurred in Barrow County.

She immediately began telling me the same story [VICTIM #1] had given me about her attempting to pass him. She added that [VICTIM #1] would not let her over, so she blew the horn at him. She stated when her lane ended, she had no choice but to force her way into the left lane. By this time, a male I recognized as [REDACTED] had come outside where I was talking to the female. I asked the female if she had been in the vehicle by herself and she stated she had been.

I asked the female, who was later identified as Natrice Ellison, why she did not stop after the two vehicles collided. She claimed they did not strike each other. I informed her the damage to both vehicles suggested otherwise. Natrice claimed there was no damage to her vehicle, so I pointed out to her what I had observed as I walked to the door of the residence. We then walked over to the driver’s side of the car, and I pointed out the damage. Natrice acknowledged the damage and stated it had not previously been there.

I informed the female I would be placing her under arrest for Hit and Run and Failure to Maintain Lane. I explained each charge and she stated she understood. I handcuffed her in front of her body due to her cooperation. I checked the handcuffs for proper fit and double-locked them. I searched her clothing incident to arrest and did not locate any contraband.

I transported her to the Barrow County Detention Center and released her to detention staff without incident. While there, I issued her citations for the above stated charges. Prior to and after transport I searched my patrol vehicle.
