On 07/31/2026 at approximately 0300 hours, I was traveling south on Highway 11 behind a sedan, which was traveling behind an 18-wheeler. As we approached the intersection of Bethlehem Church Road, I observed a vehicle approach and stop at the stop sign on Bethlehem Church Road at Highway 11 South. Given the close proximity of the 18-wheeler and the sedan to the intersection, I anticipated the vehicle would wait for traffic to clear. However, just as the 18-wheeler neared the intersection, the stopped vehicle pulled out and accelerated directly in front of the commercial truck. I observed the 18-wheeler’s brake lights illuminate immediately as the driver braked hard to avoid a collision. I accelerated to catch up to the suspect vehicle and initiated a traffic stop for failure to yield the right of way while turning left. The stop was conducted on Highway 11 South, just inside the Walton County line. The vehicle was identified as a black Chevrolet Cruze bearing Georgia license plate [REDACTED].
I approached the driver, introduced myself, and stated the reason for the stop. The driver was subsequently identified by her driver’s license as Rebekah Reavis. During our initial interaction, I noted that Ms. Reavis had bloodshot eyes, slurred her words while speaking, and emitted a distinct odor of an alcoholic beverage from her person. When asked how much alcohol she had consumed that evening, Ms. Reavis stated she had not been drinking. She noted that she was traveling from the Atmosphere nightclub. Based on the initial traffic infraction, her physical manifestations of impairment, and her point of origin, I requested Deputy Sanson to respond to the scene to conduct Standardized Field Sobriety Testing (SFST).
Upon his arrival, Ms. Reavis consented to the SFST battery and voluntarily provided a breath sample into a Portable Breath Test (PBT). The PBT yielded a positive result with a breath-alcohol concentration (BAC) of 0.12. Following the field evaluations, Deputy Sanson determined Ms. Reavis was driving under the influence. He read the Georgia Implied Consent Notice requesting a state-administered breath test, and subsequently a blood test. Ms. Reavis refused both requests.
Ms. Reavis was placed under arrest for DUI-Alcohol (Less Safe), Reckless Driving, and Failure to Yield While Turning Left. I transported her to the detention center and released her to the custody of the jail staff. She was issued citations for the aforementioned offenses.
While at the jail, Ms. Reavis was served with a DDS-1205 form, and I seized her driver’s license to submit with the administrative paperwork. Her father was contacted, arrived at the scene of the stop, and took custody of her vehicle.
