On October 17, 2025, at approximately 1152 hours, I responded to 440 Atlanta Hwy NW (Walmart) in reference to a Hit and Run.
Upon arriving on scene, I spoke with [VICTIM #1], who was driving a 2003 Mercury Marquis. [VICTIM #1] stated that he was at the stop sign in front of the store when a Black GMC Sierra rear-ended him. [VICTIM #1] showed me the truck that hit him, and it had license plate #[REDACTED]. I was able to contact the registered owner, who was Walter Lunn. Walter told me that he was in the store, and I told him to come back to his truck so I could speak with him.
When Walter got back outside, he immediately started yelling and calling [VICTIM #1] a “Lying Motherf*cker”. I explained to him that he needed to calm down and stop yelling. He continued to be somewhat hostile and aggressive. He stated that he did not hit [VICTIM #1]’s Vehicle and that [VICTIM #1] got out of his car, accusing him of hitting him. Walter stated that [VICTIM #1] was driving 3 MPH and going extremely slow. He stated that he then just sat at the stop sign, so he started to honk the horn at him.
I explained to Walter that I was going to watch the camera footage of the incident, and he still told me that he did not hit his car. I then went inside Walmart and watched the Video of the incident, and you can clearly see Walter rear-end [VICTIM #1]. [VICTIM #1]’s whole car moved forward when they hit, and both of them exited their vehicles and began to argue. You then see Walter get back in his truck and drive away.
I then gave [VICTIM #1] a case card and explained it to him. I then explained to Walter that he was being placed under arrest for OCGA 40-6-270 Hit & Run Due to Walter leaving the scene of an accident without attempting to exchange the appropriate information.
I then placed Walter in a pair of double-locked handcuffs and checked for proper fit. He was then searched for any contraband before being placed in the backseat of my patrol car, where he was transported to the Barrow County Detention Center and turned over to jail staff without issue.
A copy of the video was placed into evidence.
[End of Narrative]
