On 11/11/2021 at approximately 1:04pm I was dispatched to [200 BLOCK] W Midland Ave (Winder GA 30680) in reference to a family violence incident. I was informed by dispatch the involved parties were separated. I responded CODE l.

On scene I spoke with Wendy Sargent (suspect), REDACTED BY AGENCY and WITNESS #1. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] and [WITNESS #1] are mother and father to Wendy. All parties reside at the same address.

Wendy was in her makeshift apartment (shed) in the back yard when I made contact with her. It was clear she was upset. At first she refused to come out and talk to me, by yelling through the door, but she eventually came outside. She stated this incident started over her trying to fix her father’s ([WITNESS #1]) cell phone. She stated her mother ([REDACTED BY AGENCY]) sent her a text message asking her to come inside and try to fix her father’s ([WITNESS #1]) cell phone. She stated while she was trying to fix the phone she somehow reset the phone and her mother got upset at her. She stated this is when her mother started to yell at her. She stated both of them were yelling at each other. During this she stated her mother gave her, her cell phone and asked her to talk to the cable company. Wendy stated while she had the phone her mother knocked it our of her hands. When asked Wendy stated there was no physical contact between her and her mother. I checked Wendy for injury but I did not see any and she did not complain of any.

I then spoke with [REDACTED BY AGENCY], Wendy’s mother. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] stated she asked Wendy to come inside and try to fix [WITNESS #1]’s phone. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] stated something went wrong when Wendy was trying to fix [WITNESS #1]’s phone and an argument ensued. During the argument [REDACTED BY AGENCY] stated she was sitting in her chair in the living room when Wendy came at her. She stated Wendy put her hand around her neck and [REDACTED BY AGENCY] shouted “she’s choking me”. At this point she stated Wendy got off of her and [WITNESS #1] came into the room.

When I spoke with [WITNESS #1] he stated Wendy and [REDACTED BY AGENCY] were arguing over his cell phone. He stated this was happening the in the living room area of the home. He stated he went to the back bedroom to get a change of clothes and while he was walking back to his room he heard the sounds of a struggle coming from the living room. [WITNESS #1] stated he heard [REDACTED BY AGENCY] yell “she’s coking me”. When [WITNESS #1] came back into the room he stated they were separated but Wendy was holding her first up to [REDACTED BY AGENCY] face.

When I looked at [REDACTED BY AGENCY] to check for any injures I noticed a red mark on her neck that is consistent with someone putting their hand their. Based on the statements of all parties and the physical evidence I found probable cause to take Wendy into custody for Simple Battery FV.

I placed Wendy in handcuffs behind her back double locking them and checking them for fit. Ofc. Henderson #142 searched Wendy incident to arrest and located no weapons or contraband.

I then placed Wendy in the backseat of my patrol vehicle and secured her in with the seatbelt. I then transported her to the Barrow County Jail where she was turned over to Jail Staff without incident.

A warrant was secured for Wendy Sargent for Simple Battery FV Warrant # 2021-1548MW.

No injuries were reported during this incident.
