BARROW COUNTY, Ga. – A Barrow County restaurant owner has been arrested and charged with kidnapping and rape after authorities say he assaulted his 18-year-old employee.
The Winder Police Department took Daniel Barrios Catalan, 46, into custody earlier this month following allegations that he provided alcohol to the victim and later sexually assaulted her. Catalan is the manager and co-owner of Latin Flavors restaurant in Winder.
Police said the investigation began after a mandated reporter alerted authorities that the employee had been given alcohol after her shift at the restaurant.
According to investigators, Catalan provided the teenager with liquor on the night of March 1. He then took her to a private area of the restaurant before driving her to his home the following morning.
Authorities said the victim was so intoxicated that she nearly lost consciousness.
Catalan was arrested and booked into the Barrow County Jail on March 7.
