On September 11, 2026, I responded to [REDACTED] in reference to a welfare check.

While en route, I reviewed the call notes, which stated that a doctor’s office had received messages from an individual identified as Ms. Abigail Gentry. In the messages, Abigail stated that she had been hitting her husband repeatedly and could not stop.

Due to the statements contained in the messages and the possibility of an ongoing domestic violence incident, I responded to the residence.

Upon arrival, I made contact with Abigail. I explained the reason for my presence and asked if she was okay and whether her son or husband were at the residence. Abigail stated that her husband, Mr. [VICTIM #1], was at work and that her son, [JUVENILE #1], was inside the residence lying down.

I asked Abigail if I could see [JUVENILE #1] to ensure that he was okay. Abigail agreed and allowed me inside the residence. Upon entering, I observed the living room to be in disarray. The television had been knocked over against the wall, and multiple items were scattered throughout the room, appearing consistent with a physical altercation having occurred in that area.

I located [JUVENILE #1] and confirmed that he appeared to be in stable condition. I then asked Abigail about the messages she had sent to her doctor’s office the previous night.

Abigail stated that she had struck [VICTIM #1] the previous night and had done so on one prior occasion. I asked Abigail to clarify what she meant by striking him last night. Abigail stated, “I slapped him a few times, I bit him on his leg, I pushed him around, umm, it was pretty bad.” Abigail also stated that she would not allow [VICTIM #1] to leave.

I asked Abigail whether she had struck [VICTIM #1] with an open hand or a closed fist. Abigail stated that she had used both. I asked where she had struck [VICTIM #1], and Abigail stated, “In the face and stomach. I think I hit him a good few times in the face.”

I then contacted [VICTIM #1] and asked him what had occurred. [VICTIM #1] stated that he had been discussing a doctor’s appointment that had not gone well earlier in the day, which caused an argument between him and Abigail. [VICTIM #1] stated that during the argument, Abigail struck him several times and bit him on the leg. [VICTIM #1] stated that the incident occurred while their son, [JUVENILE #1], was present and sitting on the couch.

I asked [VICTIM #1] to respond to the residence so I could speak with him in person and so he could take custody of [JUVENILE #1]. Once [VICTIM #1] arrived on scene, I observed no apparent marks or injuries on his face. [VICTIM #1] declined to show me his stomach or the area of his leg where he stated Abigail had bitten him.

Based on the statements provided by Abigail and [VICTIM #1], along with the observations made at the residence, sufficient probable cause was established to believe that Abigail had committed the offenses of Simple Battery (Family Violence Act) and Cruelty to Children in the Third Degree (Family Violence Act).

Abigail was placed under arrest and transported to the BCSO without incident. An arrest warrant was subsequently obtained and submitted to the BCSO Jail Division.
