On 04/09/2025 I, Deputy Puckett, responded to room [REDACTED] of the Red Roof Inn located at 28 HWY 20 Spur in response to a report of a male trying to get into the room and being verbal with the caller. The male, reportedly attempting to enter the room, was described as a white male with shorts and a T-shirt. When entering the parking lot, I observed a male later identified as [VICTIM #1], walking through the parking lot toward room [REDACTED]. [VICTIM #1] is a white male and was wearing a gray t-shirt and gray shorts.
I exited my patrol vehicle and began to approach the room, walking behind [VICTIM #1]. As I approached the room, I observed [VICTIM #1] knock on the door to the room two separate times. It should be noted that I was only approximately 20 feet from the door when [VICTIM #1] was knocking and I was unable to hear the knocking.
Following [VICTIM #1]’s knocking on the door, another male who was later identified as the caller, Anthony William opened the door and allowed [VICTIM #1] access to the room.
There was no confrontation between the males and I was able to hear [VICTIM #1] say he was just trying to gather his belongings. I was able to observe [VICTIM #1] as he was gathering his belongings inside of the room. [VICTIM #1] and Anthony both acted confused as to why Law Enforcement was on scene.
Anthony then began to verbally confront me, asking “why are you outside my fu*king room?!”. Anthony’s voice was elevated at this point and I advised him the reason I was at his door was due to him contacting 911. Anthony denied him calling 911. Anthony asked what he needed to do. I informed Anthony of the fact that I had only just arrived on scene and that I did not know what was going on at the moment.
Anthony then began to accuse me of standing behind [VICTIM #1] and watching him actively beating on the door of the room and trying to make entry. When I told Anthony I, again, had just arrived on scene and that I saw [VICTIM #1] knock on the room lightly, Anthony grew more agitated and began posturing aggressively in the doorway. Anthony was still being verbally confrontational at this time.
[VICTIM #1] was able to gather his belongings and exit the room. While exiting the room, [VICTIM #1] said “I gotta get out of here, he’s violent”.
Anthony moved toward the open door and took a bladed stance. I advised Anthony he was not going to shut the door. Anthony then walked toward me while maintaining an aggressive posture. I instructed Anthony not to approach me more than once but he kept advancing toward me. Once Anthony was close to my person he said “hold on”. While saying this, Anthony began to manipulate his cellphone in his left hand. While doing this, Anthony simultaneously made a movement toward the front pocket of his hooded sweatshirt with his right hand.
Due to Anthony’s already aggressive demeanor, behavior, and unwillingness to listen to commands I approached Anthony and grabbed his upper body around his chest. This was due to wanting to prevent Anthony from producing any weapon he may have been reaching for. Anthony immediately began trying to use his body to push me backward. I began to drive my legs toward the bed inside of the room. Both myself and Anthony landed on top of the bed. Anthony resisted being placed in handcuffs, but was able to be placed under arrest.
Once Anthony was escorted to a patrol vehicle for transport, he refused to sit in the vehicle, and had to be sat in the vehicle for transport to the jail.
Anthony was transported to the Bartow County Jail for booking procedures where he was evaluated by medical staff and cleared for entry into the jail.
[VICTIM #1] had already obtained a different room from hotel staff. I went to that room and spoke with him in regards to the incident prior to our arrival. [VICTIM #1] advised that Anthony had been consuming alcohol for several hours. [VICTIM #1] advised he was lying in his bed, attempting to go to sleep and Anthony was still consuming alcoholic beverages. [VICTIM #1] said Anthony got quite before boldly asking “Do you think I’m gay?”. [VICTIM #1] advised Anthony then became aggressive while demanding to speak with [VICTIM #1]’s wife. When [VICTIM #1] denied the communication, Anthony lunged across the bed [VICTIM #1] was lying in. [VICTIM #1] advised that Anthony was trying to start a physical altercation and to prevent it, he pushed Anthony away from him. Anthony then grabbed, what [VICTIM #1] identified as a small, black, sharp, knife like “thing” and began approaching him with the item.
Anthony was asking [VICTIM #1] “You think you’re tough? You think I’m tough? You think you can fu*k with me?” [VICTIM #1] advised that Anthony was approaching him aggressively during this exchange and, due to the sharp object, [VICTIM #1] forced Anthony to the wall of the hotel room to prevent the attack with the object. [VICTIM #1] said he was then able to gather some of his belongings and leave the room. Once [VICTIM #1] was out of the room, Anthony began throwing [VICTIM #1]’s items outside of the room, including the sharp object. [VICTIM #1] then went to the front desk and obtained his own room for the night. When [VICTIM #1] returned to the room to gather his remaining belongings, Anthony would not allow him inside to get his belongings.
[VICTIM #1] advised he did wish to pursue charges against Anthony in the matter. [VICTIM #1] also advised Anthony needs mental health help due to his behavior.
[VICTIM #1] was provided with the case information.
A search of the area immediately outside of room [REDACTED] was conducted in an effort to locate the black sharp object but it was unable to be located.
Due to Anthony lunging toward [VICTIM #1] to the degree which [VICTIM #1] felt the need to defend himself from receiving harm, a warrant was secured for Simple assault.
Due to Anthony retrieving the sharp object and approaching [VICTIM #1] in an aggressive manor while attempting to physically fight him, a warrant was secured for Aggravated Assault.
Due to Anthony refusing to allow [VICTIM #1] access to his personal belongings inside of the hotel room, a warrant was secured for Criminal Trespass- Interference with Property.
Due to Anthony falsely claiming that [VICTIM #1] was attempting to make entry into the hotel room while Law Enforcement observed the action and that being false, a warrant was secured for Unlawful conduct during a 911 phone call.
Due to Anthony resisting being placed into handcuffs and refusing to get into the patrol vehicle for transport, a warrant was secured for Obstruction of Law Enforcement.
